Chapter 125 - Pepsi-Raga

"Pe... Pe..." Pepsi-Man violently trembled, the silver chain around his neck, a gift from John's new Knighting ability, cracking under the strain. "POLYMERISATION!!!"

CLANK!

The massive shadow of Mahoraga collapsed inward, violently rushing into Pepsi-Man's metallic body.

A shockwave of cursed energy and effervescent carbonated aura exploded outward, blowing Battle Beast back several feet. The light pierced the clouds, painting the sky a terrifying white.

When the light shattered, a new abominable being, neither divine nor demonic, stood on the battlefield.

He was a hulking behemoth whose body was a flawless fusion of pristine silver metal and bulging, pale muscle. A flowing white Hakama wrapped around his waist. Protruding from his face were four silver, wings.

Hovering above his head was the Eight-Handled Dharma Wheel, spinning slowly with a heavy metallic hum.

Attached to his right forearm was the Sword of Extermination, radiating a violently bright energy.

Battle Beast stared at the divine abomination. His eyes widened and pupils dilated as he felt the crushing density of the entity's aura.

The disappointment vanished and the ecstasy returned.

"YES!" Battle Beast screamed, the blood vessels in his eyes bursting from the sheer adrenaline. "YES! A WORTHY CHALLENGER!"

Battle Beast burst from his spot, his massive frame became a blur as he crossed the distance and swung his legendary battle mace. He had grown so bored with his fight with Sebas that now he aimed to kill with every blow. Should his opponent die on just his first attack, then he wasn't worthy of a fight to begin with.

Pepsi-Man raised his left arm to block and the mace that had been swung toward its head was deflected down.

CRUNCH.

But as the mace connected, his left arm was obliterated. Silver muscle and cursed energy exploded into a geyser of blue and red gore. The kinetic carry-through slammed into Pepsi-Man's ribs, caving in the left side of his torso and tearing out a metallic lung.

The fusion was launched backward, crashing through the ruins of a skyscraper, his body mangled and leaking cursed fluid.

Battle Beast laughed, a manic sound of pure bloodlust. He lunged into the dust cloud, ready to tear the beast apart. "IS THAT ALL?! YOU BREAK TOO EASILY!"

Deep within the rubble, the Dharma wheel hovered in the darkness.

CLINK.

The wheel turned one rotation.

A massive blast of cursed energy erupted from the debris. Battle Beast watched from afar with abated breath as Pepsi-Man stepped out of the shadows.

His body was already healed. The left arm that had been pulverized was now coated in a thick, silver alloy. The muscle fibers pulsed with an adaptive light. Battle Beast didn't know what exactly had changed about the monster, but it looked promising.

The two shared a short standoff. Battle Beast swung his mace lazily to the ground, dust bloomed from the small impacts. Pepsi-Man's Cheshire smile widened, showing even more of its gums and blinding white teeth.

The two acknowledged each other for a moment longer before they both burst from their spots.

Battle Beast swung the mace again, still aiming to blast Pepsigara's head away.

This time, Pepsi-Man simply raised his newly adapted left hand and caught the head of the mace.

The shockwave cracked the bedrock for a mile in every direction, but Pepsi-Man's arm didn't even tremble. The blunt-force trauma was completely nullified. He had adapted.

Battle Beast's eyes went wide. Pepsi-Man gripped the mace, completely crushing the legendary alien metal into useless scrap in his palm, and pulled Battle Beast forward.

Pepsi-Man swung his right arm. The Sword of Extermination hummed, cutting through the air.

Battle Beast let go of the ruined mace and dropped low with the idea of using his claws to get close to the giant and gut like he had done many times prior, but the blade clipped his shoulder. The positive energy coating the blade reacted violently to Battle Beast's murderous aura, searing through his INVINCIBLE flesh like a hot knife through butter.

Battle Beast roared in agony, leaping backward. Steam sizzled from the cauterized wound on his shoulder. He looked at his claws, then back to the giant.

"You learn, just like my student?" Battle Beast whispered, his manic grin returning, stretching from ear to ear. "You have evolved! Glorious!"

Battle Beast abandoned all restraint. He lunged forward with his claws glowing from the empowering strength of his curse. He slashed forward in a frantic whirlwind of supersonic strikes that tore into Pepsi-Man's chest, ripping out chunks of silver metal and divine flesh, painting the battlefield in a spray of cursed blood.

Pepsi-Man stumbled back, his body heavily lacerated, his intestines hanging from a gaping wound in his stomach.

CLINK.

The wheel turned for the second time.

Instantly, the wounds sealed. The silver skin rippled, restructuring down to its molecular density.

Battle Beast drove his claws directly at Pepsi-Man's throat. The strike hit the silver skin and violently ricocheted. The claws had simply failed to pierce the flesh. Pepsi-Man had adapted to slashing attacks.

The silver giant smiled wider. He reached forward, his massive hand wrapping entirely around Battle Beast's face. He slammed the warlord face-first into the earth, dragging him through the bedrock for miles, grinding Battle Beast's skull against the friction of the planet.

Battle Beast tore himself free, but his face was a bloody mess of exposed muscle and bone. One of his golden eyes was crushed, hanging from its socket. Yet he didn't scream in pain but in his characteristic joy.

"MORE!" Thokk roared, spitting out broken teeth. "KILL ME! PROVE YOU ARE WORTHY TO KILL ME!"

Pepsi-Man stood tall, his eerie smile unwavering and raised the Sword of Extermination. The blade suddenly shifted, elongating and wrapping itself in a dense layer of cursed energy.

Pepsi-Man blurred forward. It was an impossible fusion of Mahoraga's relentless walk and Pepsi-Man's unpredictable speed.

He appeared directly in front of Battle Beast.

SHLUCK.

The blade came down and cleanly severed Battle Beast's right arm at the shoulder.

Thokk didn't even flinch. He used the moment to spin, driving his remaining left fist directly into Pepsi-Man's face, shattering the silver metal and exposing the horrific, multiple-eyed face of Mahoraga underneath.

Pepsi-Man swung again.

SHLUCK.

Battle Beast's left leg was amputated at the knee.

The warlord collapsed backward into the dirt. Blood poured from his severed stumps in rivers, soaking the earth. His chest heaved. He was missing an arm, a leg, and half his face.

But Thokk was laughing. He propped himself up on his remaining hand, looking up at the towering, relentless god of adaptation. Tears of ecstatic joy streamed from his one good eye.

The endless, gnawing hunger in his soul, the agonizing curse of being too strong, of searching the galaxy for a warrior who could finally put him down, was finally satiated. He had found his honourable death.

"Magnificent," Battle Beast breathed, coughing up a massive mouthful of blood. He bared his fangs in a triumphant smile. "A predator... greater than me. Finally…. I can rest…."

Pepsi-Man stood over the broken warlord as the Dharma wheel spun lazily.

The giant raised the Sword of Extermination high above his head. The blade burned with a blinding light, infused with the unyielding promise to protect his friend.

Pepsi-Man brought the blade down.

The Sword of Extermination pierced directly through the top of Battle Beast's skull, driving down through his brain, spine, and finally burying itself deep into the bedrock of the planet.

The positive cursed energy erupted from the blade, violently purifying the warlord from the inside out. Battle Beast's flesh began to crack, glowing with a blinding white light.

With a final flash, the great Thokk exploded into a shower of red ash across the ruined plains of Jaipur. The universe's greatest predator was dead. He had died exactly as he had lived, smiling in the face of violence.

Pepsi-Man stood silently in the center of the crater. The divine white light slowly faded from his blade. The massive Dharma wheel above his head clicked one final time before dissolving into golden particles. The intense cursed energy dissipated, and the Polymerization violently wore off.

The silver giant shrank down and the biological muscle melted away, revealing Pepsi-man returned to his slender metallic form. The silver chain around his neck finally went dim.

Pepsi-Man dropped heavily to his knees; his body was exhausted, dented, and venting thick steam into the cool night air. He turned his faceless head toward the mangled torso of Sebas Tian.

The green light of [Restoration] was still flickering, barely keeping the Iron Butler alive.

Pepsi-Man crawled over the ruined earth, his metal joints grinding and sparking. He reached the side of his fallen friend, his silver hand trembling violently, and pulled out an ice-cold can of Diet Pepsi.

He gently popped the tab. The crisp hiss of the carbonation echoed loudly in the empty wasteland.

Pepsi-Man carefully tilted the can, letting a few drops of the cool liquid fall onto Sebas's bloody lips.

"Pepsi," the mascot whispered, his voice soft and empty.
