Chapter 42 - Chapter 42 – The True Fracture

That night, neither Kashikari nor Nyari could sleep.

Yet when morning came, both of them acted as if nothing had happened.

The academy felt… normal.

The sun rose.Students followed their routines.Voices filled the halls.

But for those sensitive to aura—

the air trembled with every breath.

Kashikari sat behind Nyari during breakfast.

She looked pale.

Still, she forced a smile while talking to the others beside her.

Kashikari couldn't even feel the water passing through his throat.

Watching her like that…

was unbearable.

Dorum approached quietly.

"Kashikari… we need to talk."

"I know," he replied. "But first… I need to speak with her."

Dorum gave a slight nod.

"A pressure is building.It feels like… a god's breath."

Kashikari stood without another word and walked toward Nyari.

She noticed him immediately.

A small, automatic smile appeared on her face—but it trembled.

"Kai… about last night… I'm sorry. The god was—"

"Don't apologize," he cut in gently."That wasn't you."

Her eyes softened.

Kashikari sat across from her, leaning slightly forward.

"How do you feel today?"

Nyari hesitated.

"…Like something inside me is breathing. But it's not me."

She lowered her gaze.

"And I'm… tired."

Kashikari's expression hardened slightly.

"If it gets worse… tell me."

His voice dropped.

"I won't leave you alone. Not even for a second."

Nyari's heartbeat quickened.

"…Kai… can I ask you something?"

"Ask."

She hesitated for a moment.

"Do you… regret choosing me?"

No pause.

"Not even for a second."

Nyari looked down, her face flushing.

But then—

something changed.

A thin line appeared near the edge of her eye.

Faint.

Golden.

A crack.

Kashikari saw it instantly.

"…Nyari. There's light on your face."

She froze.

"I could feel it… but if it's visible…"

A whisper echoed.

"Vessel… your time may have come."

Nyari's body tensed.

Kashikari's gaze darkened.

"…It's speaking again, isn't it?"

"It never stopped."

The voice sharpened.

"You simply couldn't hear it."

Kashikari clenched his fist.

They didn't waste time.

Within minutes, they were inside Dorum's hut.

The moment Dorum saw Nyari—

his face went pale.

"…This is a divine fracture."

Selvan stepped forward.

"The god is forcing her aura to expand beyond its limits."

Kashikari's voice dropped dangerously low.

"…Forcing?"

Selvan nodded.

"Even if Nyari resists… the god can push her into a higher state."

Nyari shook her head.

"…I don't want that."

Her voice trembled.

"Not like this… not yet."

Kashikari moved beside her instantly.

"Then it won't happen."

His tone was absolute.

"You're not burning just because a god decided so."

The air shifted.

A voice filled the room.

"This is not your decision, Hyuga."

"I choose my vessel."

Kashikari's eyes turned cold.

"Your rules don't apply to me."

A quiet, dangerous chuckle echoed inside him.

"Kashikari… let me."

Jinwi.

"I can bury this god where it stands."

"NO."

The word cut through the air.

"If she gets hurt—"

Jinwi fell silent.

But its presence—

shook the very walls.

Night fell.

Nyari barely made it back to her room before the voice returned—clearer than ever.

"You don't need to run, Nyari."

Her breathing became uneven.

"I will elevate you."

"I'm not ready…"

"That is irrelevant."

A pause.

"You are suitable."

Light burst across her forehead.

She collapsed to her knees.

At that exact moment—

The door slammed open.

"KASHIKARI—"

No.

He didn't say her name.

He shouted it.

"NYARI!"

He rushed to her, catching her before she fell.

She was shaking.

"…Kai…"

Her voice was barely there.

"…I feel like I'm burning."

Something inside Kashikari snapped.

Jinwi's voice exploded—

for the first time, not calm, not controlled—

but furious.

"ENOUGH."

The room split.

Gold.

Black.

Light.

Darkness.

The God of Light spoke:

"She is my vessel."

Jinwi answered instantly:

"And she is the one my bearer chose."

The pressure became unbearable.

Nyari's body was caught between two forces.

Her aura trembled violently.

"Kai…"

He held her tighter.

"Don't touch her!"

But neither god stepped back.

The walls cracked.

The air screamed.

Light began to leak from Nyari's chest—

not softly…

but violently.

And for the first time—

the fracture became real.
