"Hi, Ryan—whatcha you doing here?" Hazel asked, arching a brow as she glanced at him.
Ryan didn't answer immediately. Instead, he casually crossed the distance, dropping onto the couch right beside Fiona like he owned the space. He leaned back, one arm stretched along the cushions, his lips curling into a lazy grin.
"Whoa…" he said, turning to Hazel. "Is that really a question?"
Hazel narrowed her eyes at him, already gearing up for battle.
"You do realize today is Thursday, right? Shouldn't you be at work?" she fired back.
Ryan blinked at her, looking genuinely offended.
"At night?" he asked, his eyes widening dramatically. "Hazel, do I look like a vampire to you?"
Fiona let out a soft laugh, quickly covering her mouth with her hand.
Hazel ignored her and reached for the bottle, pouring herself a drink with the confidence of someone preparing for war.
