The dim light of my incense- filled room cast long shadows across the ornate table where the CEO of the Dallas Sports League sat, a man whose suit probably cost more than half the city.
He was a predator in his own right, but right now, he looked like a frightened child.
"Your partner," I said, my voice low and steady as I stared into the swirling smoke rising from my divination pot, "he is not as strong as you. His ambition is a gnat compared to your lion. But his family... their roots run deep. They are a vine that will strangle your tree if you let them."
He shifted in his seat, the expensive leather groaning under his weight. "What should I do?" he asked, his voice tight with tension.
