When we pulled up outside the Attorney General's luxury apartment complex, I took a deep breath, steadying myself before stepping outside. I either had to get the attorney general on my side or take him and Samantha out.
I could feel my wrist throbbing now.
"Are you seriously just going to run in there?" A voice asked in disbelief.
Pinky!
Well that makes me feel a bit better but not exactly comforted.
"How'd you know I was here?"
"Darius."
He does care!
"If I don't just run in there, how can I save my ass?" I replied, staring up at the imposing building. "Darius isn't coming to help. This is all I've got."
Pinky groaned, "Look," she started, "you can't just go without anyone backing you up."
I raised an eyebrow at her. "I don't want to go to prison, Pinky. I'm not built for it."
"I know, and I'm not planning on messing anything up," Pinky said, his voice softening slightly. "I just don't think I'd work this hard to fix a mistake I made."
