The call came on a Monday morning.
Evelyn was in the middle of reviewing the reports for a new batch of products that were in production when Jamie, her CFO, knocked twice and entered without waiting, which meant it was serious, because Jamie was a man who believed in the sanctity of the knock.
"Evelyn, the stock price is fluctuating," He said, with a tablet in his hand, his face pale. "Someone is buying aggressively. Not just retail investors, it's a concentrated sweep. We're talking millions of shares in the last hour."
Evelyn didn't look up from the report she was signing. "Is it the luxury group from Dubai?"
"No," Jamie whispered, sliding the tablet onto her desk. "The shell company is based out of the Germany. But the signature on the authorization says Thorn International."
