Cherreads

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Hydrangea serrata

I stare at him from head to toe in a judging perspective.

I then stand up only to realize... He's just an inch taller than Velora

'If this was my old body I'll be taller than him more than an inch.' I scoff, as I cover my mouth with my hand.

His eyebrow twitches then crosses his arms.

"HEY! Is looking the only thing you can do?"

'I'm not aware if Lady Velora has any sibling since I only read —for the plot.'

I then bow gracefully like a noble, I dip into a polite curtsy, lifting my skirt slightly.

I turn and walk away, 'I don't want to meet random characters right now.'

He then trails after me screaming, "HEY!".

—trips—

'I forgot I can't walk with heels on.'

I almost slammed my face on the concrete floor, but I'm glad I was able to use my hands to stop my fall.

"Puwahahahaha!" He snickers, clearly amused.

"What type of girl falls over her own?"

I've completely snapped.

'Rather than confronting him, I'm more aware of my situation right now and that is— I'm clueless so if I punch him now, I don't know what'll happen to me other than being beheaded but If I didn't I would've punch his smug face and kick him in the bird.'

Without warning, I grab my skirt and run, uneven strides, hopping between steps just to keep my balance in these heels.

He freezes behind me, stunned, as if I've gone mad.

"What is wrong with Velly?" still too stunned.

—Inside the manor—

I look around to find my room to escape from that dude.

'Where was my room? On the right then—'

'Why do they all look the same!?'

I open the doors one by one, slowly and slightly.

'Nope... Nope.... Not here... No..'

"Where is it?" I whisper.

"Velly where are you?" a shout from the distance can be heard, it's from that red-headed dude.

'Velly, me...?'

'I'm not interested in having a conversation just yet not until I realize what personality does Velora have.'

'Suspicious = death.'

—In Velora's head—

'What if he goes.'

"You're not my sister, who're you imposter." as The red dude points a sword on my neck.

—poof, stab—

A shiver runs down my spine as I clutch my shoulders.

"Maids have you seen Velora?"

"No young master, Reynard."

I slowly creep inside a random room, 'So his name is Reynard huh.'

Think, think, think—

Never heard of him, as I shrug and start to look around.

'This isn't my room.'

The room is far too larger than Lady Valera's room.

'Whose room would this be? A smell of lavender.'

Purple curtains hang heavily by the windows, and a bed twice as big than mine.

Few toys remained still at the opposite end of the bed, left where they once were, as if no one dared to move them.

Two tall wardrobes stand against the walls, closed and undisturbed.

Beyond the glass doors, a balcony sits quietly, a small table with one chair placed near the railing, A vase rests at its center, filled with lavender. The glass door opens slightly, allowing the gentle scent of lavender is from where to be found.

The air carries a faint scent of flowers mixed with dust—like something once cherished, now left untouched.

'It feels as though no one has stepped into this room for a long time.'

Muffled sounds can be heard at the opposite side of the door.

'Hiding is the only way and only thing I can do, just give me a break already I need to sort out my thoughts.'

I suddenly hear a click beyond the door I'm staying at, in a hurry I hid in one of the wardrobes and remained quiet.

I hear steps but no noise can be heard other than that.

Suddenly the steps slowly gets louder as it gets closer.

—Bang—

"WAHHH!" I scream.

"AHH!?!" he screams.

"What are you screaming for!?" as Reynard put his hand into his chest.

"Come on let's go out." Reynard reaches his hand out while I hesitate for a moment.

"How did you find me."

"Well you're the only lady who wears a fancy green with golden lining sticking out

of the wardrobe.."

Reynard let's out a sigh. "I knew that you always go here whenever you miss the late Duchess..."

'So this is from the late duchess, Lady Velora's mom yet why does Reynard address her that than mother?'

"But I never knew you'll do it today even though she died a week before your birthday." as Reynard scratches his head.

'Ah I see, how lonely must Lady Velora felt.'

I start to reach out my hand and held on Reynard's hand.

'Could this be a coincidence… or just the body's (Lady Velora's) instinct?'

I slowly step out and follow Reynard instead.

'Seems like the world is doing me a favor not to get caught, that I'm not Lady Velora that is.'

—Dining Room—

'Woah, I never explored hard enough but what a huge chandelier in the middle of the dining table.'

'What if it fell, Final Destination.'' as I shiver and my face went pale.

"My lady have a seat." a maid guide me through my seat while the other holds it for me.

The dining table is already set, lined with neatly arranged dishes. A roasted chicken sits at the center, its golden skin glistening under the light. Bowls of buttered vegetables and freshly baked bread are placed around it, alongside a warm, fragrant soup and a teacup rests by my side, steam rising gently from its surface.

'Woah a feast, I never had this much food in one meal, I'm so used to just eating a milk bread everyday.'

As I'm about to eat, Reynard interrupts me.

"I heard you got sick for 3 days, are you okay now?"

"I sent a letter to our older brother when I was away, to ask the royal physician for you, yet he ignored me instead." as Reynard grits his teeth and stabs the meat on his plate with a knife and fork.

'This dude doesn't respect the food...' as I try to eat peacefully, he interrupts me again.

"I know far enough that the crown prince favor us since he's a childhood friend of his yet he didn't care enough for you?!"

"You know what he said? 'Velora is our sister, she can handle it' That idiotic older brother but don't worry Velly, My mission is finished, your best bro will be able to hang out more with you." as he smiles.

'You mean a bother not brother...' I try to eat, one. more. time. And he interrupts me again.

'This guy keeps banging the table, at least let me eat in peace!' My forehead twitches, barely holding back my irritation.

'Wait while I'm here should I ask about fairies?'

"Reynard."

"Reynard!? You maids! Erisa what happened to Velly? Why's she calling me in honorifics."

'This sensitive guy is far too sensitive.'

"Wah! What did you guys do!!"

'What old prick than Velora acts like that.'

"Lady Valera, p-please call him Rey." Erisa whispers while Kel hides behind Erisa like a wet puppy.

"Rey..."

"Yes Velly?" smiles happily.

'He's getting on my nerves should I just throw this meat and tell him it's an accident' I grip my plate as I stare at him intensely, while Erisa and Kel sweat nervously beside me.

I sigh to cool myself down, "Do you know anything about fairies?"

"Huh do you want me to read you a fairy story before you sleep?"

Before I could say anything Rey keeps interrupting me.

"I'm almost done eating, I'll go get the book you love in the library, enjoy your meal before we head on to your bed." he smiles like an idiot.

'I'm older than him and yet I'm getting a story time before going to bed.'

'I'll say no later.'

—In Velora's room—

I'm currently in the bath within Lady Velora's chambers, as her personal maids helps me get ready.

'I may be in Lady Velora's body now, but that doesn't mean I'm used to it.'

I raise my hands clenching them as I fix my gaze firmly on the wall.

"My lady, are you alright? You seem tense."

'You may not realize it, Kel… but this is a battlefield.'

I keep my eyes locked ahead, as if my life depends on it.

After what feels like an eternity, the maids finally step back.

"We will leave you to enjoy the bath." Erisa bows.

"I'll leave the towel here." as Kel follows Erisa.

The door closes.

Silence.

I remain frozen for a few seconds longer.

"…What the hell is this situation…? Not only am I being bathe but also I'm a girl now, My dignity." I slowly sink into the water, staring blankly ahead.

I close my eyes as I try to look for a towel.

'Yes finally the towel.'

As I open my eyes I look for the door and head out.

The maids changes my clothes to a night gown.

Rey goes in my room holding a book in his hand.

'He was serious!?'

"Hey Rey!" as I point at him and suddenly—

Rey carries me like a baby and puts me down and tucks me in bed.

I blankly stare, confused.

'Did I just experience bridal carry?' My face twists in disgust.

"Don't make that face, you'll be ugly when you grow up."

'Who do you think is at fault!?' I furrow my brows, my mouth opening in irritation.

"Here, we'll be reading about Flowers and Fairies."

My eyes widen in shock.
