She looked away, covering her face for a moment before a dazzling smile spread across her lips, bright enough to warm the entire clearing.
"You people should stop making me sad. I don't like it… and this is honestly sweet."
Tessa crouched beside them, facing each of the men one after another. Her emerald eyes softened as she studied their eager expressions.
"Now," she announced proudly, "I'll reward all of you with a kiss for being such good gentlemen."
Whether they actually understood what gentlemen meant or not, none of them cared. The word sounded pleasing enough coming from her lips.
She moved toward Zane first.
Zane's entire body stiffened instantly. He remained kneeling, fists clenched tightly at his sides while he watched her approach him slowly. The air itself seemed heavier the closer she got.
