Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Rooms, Rules & Burning Nights

Jay's POV

The bus finally stopped.

"WE ARE HERE—" Felix screamed before the door even opened.

David: "Sit down."

Teacher: "No one gets down until—"

Too late.

Chaos.

Students everywhere.

Different sections.

Noise.

Laughter.

Music from someone's speaker.

The cold air hit my face the moment I stepped down.

"…Oh wow," I whispered.

Mountains.

Tall.

Foggy.

Cold.

Perfect.

"Jay."

I turned.

Aries.

Standing there.

And beside him—

Ella.

Ella smiled. "Hi."

"Hi," I said, smiling back.

Aries looked at me properly. "You're okay?"

"Yes."

His eyes shifted slightly to Keifer.

Of course.

Protective mode on.

Behind us—

"BRO THIS PLACE IS INSANE," Felix shouted.

Ci.n was already excited like a kid. "Snow? Is there snow?"

Calix: "Maybe higher up."

Mica walked beside Calix, casually holding his hand.

Felix pointed. "COUPLE NUMBER TWO."

David: "Shut up."

Rakki walked in with Ci.n, grabbing his sleeve.

Oh yeah, rakki agreed to be her girlfriend in a dare and now ci.n is not leaving her alone.

"Don't run," she said.

"I'm not running," he replied… while almost running.

Edrix stood slightly behind, looking at Freya.

Trying not to be obvious.

Failing.

Rory whispered, "He's gone."

Kit and Mayo walked past us, laughing about something only they understood.

This trip?

Already chaotic.

Room Allotment

"Everyone gather," Sir Alvin called.

Students slowly formed groups.

"Rooms will be shared."

Silence.

Then chaos again.

Felix: "I want a good room."

David: "You'll get a normal room."

Ci.n: "We should plan properly."

Calix: "Yes."

Drew: "I'll sleep anywhere."

Mayo: "Near food."

Eman: "Kitchen side if possible."

Denzel: "Focus."

Then—

"Jay," Aries said.

I turned.

"You're staying with me and Ella."

"…What?"

"Safer."

My eyes widened. "Aries—"

"No discussion."

Keifer stepped forward slightly.

"She can decide."

Aries looked at him.

"No."

The tension was instant.

"Aries, I'm not a child," I said.

"You're my sister."

"And?"

"And I'm responsible."

I sighed. "I'll be fine."

"With him?" Aries said.

Silence.

Everyone watching now.

Felix whispering loudly: "THIS IS A SCENE."

David: "Stop enjoying this."

Keifer didn't raise his voice.

Didn't argue.

Just said calmly—

"I'll take care of her."

Aries' jaw tightened.

"That's not your job."

"It is if she trusts me."

I stepped forward.

"I do."

That stopped everything.

Even Aries.

He looked at me.

Long.

Carefully.

Then at Keifer.

"…If anything happens—"

"It won't," Keifer said.

Silence.

Then—

Aries exhaled.

"…Fine."

Felix: "HE SAID YES—"

David covered his mouth.

Aries pointed. "But I'm next door."

"Of course you are," I muttered.

Ella smiled slightly. "Don't worry, I'll keep him calm."

I laughed.

"Please do."

Room – Jay & Keifer

I walked in.

And froze.

The room was beautiful.

Large window.

Cold air.

Soft lighting.

One bed.

I turned slowly.

"…Seriously?"

Keifer closed the door calmly.

"Problem?"

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

He smirked. "Relax."

"I am not relaxed."

"You will be."

I dropped my bag.

Tried to act normal.

Failed.

"Cold?" he asked.

"…A little."

He took off his jacket again and handed it to me.

"You keep giving me this."

"You keep needing it."

I rolled my eyes… but wore it.

He walked toward the window.

White shirt again.

Why is he always wearing that.

Why is that even legal.

I looked away.

Then looked again.

Why.

"You're staring again."

"I'm not."

"You are."

"Shut up."

Evening – Bonfire Night

Music.

Lights.

Fire in the center.

Students from all sections gathered.

Energy high.

Felix already dancing.

David pretending he doesn't know him.

Ci.n laughing like a kid.

Rakki pulling him back.

Calix sitting with Mica, relaxed.

Drew joking.

Mayo eating again.

Eman managing snacks.

Denzel watching everything.

Edrix standing near Freya… not saying anything.

And me?

Standing near the fire.

Warm.

Calm.

Happy.

Keifer walked up beside me.

"Nice?"

"Very."

He stood close.

Not touching.

But close enough.

Always.

Felix suddenly shouted, "TRUTH OR DARE."

Everyone groaned.

"Again?" David said.

"Yes again," Felix said proudly.

We all sat around.

Circle.

Fire in the middle.

Lights low.

Perfect chaos setup.

Bottle spin.

First few rounds—fun.

Embarrassing.

Loud.

Then—

It stopped at Keifer.

Felix's grin turned evil.

"Truth or dare?"

"Dare."

Of course.

Felix leaned forward. "Okay… your dare is—"

Everyone leaned in.

"Jay sits on your lap for one full round."

Silence.

Then chaos.

"WHAT—" I said.

David smirked. "Good one."

Ci.n: "Interesting."

Calix: "Very."

Drew: laughing.

I looked at Keifer.

He didn't even hesitate.

"Come here."

"…Keifer."

"Dare."

Felix: "RULES ARE RULES."

I sighed.

Got up.

Walked over.

Sat.

On his lap.

Jay's POV (continued)

Worst decision of my life.

Or best.

I don't know.

His hands rested lightly at my sides.

Not holding.

Just… there.

But I could feel everything.

My heart?

Out of control.

Felix: "TIME STARTS NOW."

David: "It's just one round."

Ci.n watching like a kid.

Calix smirking.

Rakki whispering something.

Mica laughing softly.

I tried to act normal.

Impossible.

Keifer leaned slightly closer.

"Relax."

"I am not relaxed."

"I can tell."

"Don't talk."

"Why?"

"Because it makes it worse."

He smiled.

The bottle spun again.

I stayed there.

Still.

Aware.

Of him.

Of everyone watching.

Of everything.

Finally—

"DONE," Felix said.

I stood up immediately.

Too fast.

Everyone laughed.

Late Night – Back to Room

Silence.

Finally.

After chaos.

After noise.

After everything.

I sat on the bed.

"…That was insane."

"Yeah."

"You enjoyed that dare too much."

"Maybe."

"Idiot."

I stood up.

Went to change.

Turned slightly—

Then paused.

"…Don't look."

"I'm not."

"Keifer."

"I'm not looking."

I didn't fully believe him.

But still—

I changed quickly.

Keeping it safe.

Still aware.

When I turned—

He was looking away.

Actually.

"…You didn't look?"

"No."

"Why?"

He looked at me.

"…Because I meant what I said earlier."

That again.

That respect.

That control.

I sat down again.

Closer this time.

Not thinking too much.

"Today was crazy," I said.

"It's just the start."

I smiled.

"…Good."

He lay down beside me.

Close.

But not too close.

Controlled.

Careful.

I moved slightly closer.

Without thinking.

Resting near him.

He wrapped an arm around me.

Gently.

Warm.

Safe.

"Goodnight," he said.

"Goodnight."

He kissed me deeply passionately and I responded with same passion and love.

Our tongues were fighting for dominance.

And this time—

No chaos.

No tension.

Just calm.
