Chapter 6 - Episode 6: Power and Presence

The headquarters of Roy Group stood tall against the city skyline—glass, steel, and authority woven into one.

Inside, everything moved with precision.

And today—

Something felt different.

Sasmita stepped out of her car, her expression as composed as ever. The moment she entered, the usual whispers followed.

"Good morning, ma'am…"

"MD ma'am…"

She acknowledged no one.

But today, she wasn't alone.

Aarav walked beside her.

Dressed sharply now, in a perfectly fitted suit, his presence no longer blending into the background—but commanding attention without effort.

Employees noticed.

Of course they did.

The same man who had been invisible yesterday…

Was now walking beside her.

Equal.

Or something dangerously close to it.

Sasmita didn't slow down.

"From today, you'll observe first," she said as they walked toward her office. "You don't make decisions unless I approve."

Her tone was clear.

Control.

Boundaries.

Aarav listened.

But his gaze wasn't on her.

It moved around—quietly scanning, absorbing, understanding.

"I learn fast," he replied.

There was something about the way he said it.

Not arrogance.

Certainty.

Inside the boardroom, the atmosphere shifted the moment they entered.

Directors turned.

Some confused.

Some curious.

Some clearly disapproving.

"This is Aarav," Sasmita announced calmly. "He will be working as Assistant Director."

Silence.

Then—

A chair moved.

The same man from the mansion stood up, his expression tight with restrained anger.

"You're serious about this?" he asked.

Sasmita didn't look at him.

"I don't repeat decisions."

The tension thickened.

All eyes shifted to Aarav.

Measuring him.

Judging him.

Waiting for him to falter.

But he didn't.

He walked forward calmly and took a seat at the table.

No hesitation.

No awkwardness.

As if he had always belonged there.

The meeting began.

Numbers, strategies, projections—

The usual.

Sasmita led, as always, precise and controlled.

But halfway through—

Something changed.

One of the directors presented a proposal.

Confident.

Well-prepared.

Flawed.

Sasmita was about to respond—

When Aarav spoke.

"That won't work."

The interruption was quiet.

But it cut through everything.

The room froze.

All eyes turned to him.

Sasmita's gaze sharpened slightly. "You have something to add?"

Aarav leaned back just slightly, his expression calm.

"The risk margin is wrong," he said. "If this goes through, you'll lose more than you gain within three months."

The director frowned. "That's not—"

"It is," Aarav cut in, his tone still steady. "You're looking at short-term growth. The market shift you're ignoring will hit you before the quarter ends."

Silence.

Something about his words—

Wasn't guesswork.

It sounded like knowledge.

Experience.

Sasmita watched him carefully now.

Not as a boss.

But as someone trying to understand.

"Continue," she said.

Aarav didn't hesitate.

He explained.

Clearly.

Logically.

Every flaw. Every risk. Every outcome.

By the time he finished—

The room had no argument left.

Sasmita leaned back slowly.

For the first time—

She hadn't been the one in control of the room.

"Revise the proposal," she said finally.

The meeting ended soon after.

But the impact remained.

Outside the boardroom—

The same man blocked their path.

His patience was gone.

"Who are you?" he demanded, looking directly at Aarav now.

Aarav met his gaze.

Unmoved.

"No one important."

"That's not what it looks like," he snapped.

Before the situation could escalate—

Sasmita stepped in.

"Enough."

Her voice was cold.

Final.

She turned slightly toward Aarav.

"Come."

The message was clear.

She chose him.

Again.

As they walked away, the tension followed.

But so did something else.

Attention.

Curiosity.

And something far more dangerous—

Interest.

Inside her office, the door closed behind them.

Silence filled the space.

Sasmita turned to face him.

For a moment, she said nothing.

Just looked at him.

As if seeing him differently now.

"You didn't follow my instruction," she said finally.

Aarav tilted his head slightly. "You said no decisions."

A pause.

"I didn't make one. I corrected a mistake."

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Not in anger.

In thought.

"You're not what you look like," she said quietly.

For a brief second—

Something flickered in his gaze.

"Neither are you," he replied.

Silence.

The tension between them had changed.

It wasn't just control anymore.

It was something deeper.

Sharper.

Outside, through the glass walls—

That same man watched them.

His fists clenched.

Jaw tight.

Jealousy.

Clear.

Burning.

Inside—

Sasmita turned away first.

"Focus on your work," she said, her tone returning to normal. "Don't overstep again."

Aarav didn't respond.

But his eyes remained on her for a moment longer.

Because something had shifted.

Not just in the office.

Not just in power.

But between them.
