Chapter 12
In the war room of the Kingdom of Zueston, the King, his Commander, along with Aenzil, Clara, and Tezuka, are gathered.
The room is silent as they gaze at the table.
Tezuka slams his hand on it, saying, "I can't agree with this; we need to act now."
"I agree," the Commander responds.
Aenzil stood up. "My decision is final. The Prince will be safe; we just have to trust and wait six days," she declared before leaving the room.
Tezuka clenches his fist while Clara looks at him. "You're not the only one worried about him," she remarks.
"If she is, then why don't we go?" Tezuka asked, turning to the King. "Why is your-"
Suddenly, a messenger bursts in and kneels.
"My King, a message from the Prince," he announces.
Everyone's eyes widen.
"The battle is nearly over; the Archdemons are missing. The leader fights Nemisis now, a battle uncertain in its outcome for the town's survival. You entrusted us with something worse than the devil. I will send an update, and I hope this message reaches you. - Prince Maximus," the messenger states.
The King stroked his beard gently. The Commander signals the messenger to leave.
"If this truly becomes a great tragedy, then in three days, I will permit you to proceed. I shall talk to your Captain, not as a Captain but as my equal. In desperate times, I can't play her games."
The King stood up and left, and his Commander followed. Clara and Tezuka stared at their back as they left.
" ...' her games'?" Clara repeated with a frown.
Back on the battlefield, the area was in ruins, with craters scattered everywhere. The town walls were trembling with cracks. At the new camp close to the town wall, the Prince stood, looking a little better. Beside him was General Kane with a bandage wrapped around his head and arms.
"What do you think will be the outcome?" The Prince asked, his tone sounded dull.
Kane sighed, "It's either one of them or the entire town and us, depending on who wins."
The Prince looked down.
"I wish I were stronger, then I could have gone against that traitor."
He clenched his fist as a tear rolled down his left cheek. Kane watched, his expression showing he understood the pain.
Meanwhile, Patrick and Nemisis were still going at each other. He grabs Nemisis by the neck and flies into the mountain, then leaves him for it to crumble upon him. Nemisis shot out, towards him. He threw both swords at Patrick. He struggled to keep up with the speed, receiving cuts across his chest.
Nemisis calls back the sword by pulling the chain. Both fighters stood, exhausted and badly beaten, watching the other with hate.
Nemisis started to feel dizzy, he staggered, before stomping the ground.
"I can see you are at your limit," Patrick smiled. "It was fun."
Parick dashed towards Nemisis, ready to swing his sword.
He got out of the way when Nemisis swung his sword, releasing red spirit energy which destroyed the upper part of a mountain, leaving nothing but a rocky base. The diamond in his chest glowed faintly.
Patrick looked at it and smiled. "That must have taken a lot out of you in your current state."
Nemisis tries to move but falls to his knees; he coughs up blood. Patrick slowly walked towards him.
"Oh no, don't kill yourself before I do."
He stretched out his hand, and ten golden swords shot towards Nemisis. They pierced through him as blood spilled into the ground.
Back at the camp, the Prince is fighting to go onto the battlefield, but Kane prevents him. The soldiers join in to help.
"My Prince, listen, if you go now, there is nothing you can do."
"But Nemisis is going to die," the Prince said. "It doesn't matter if he is superhuman; he's going to die."
"You think he is a superhuman, look closely from here and tell me."
The Prince looked, squinting his eyes, then they suddenly widened, and his face displayed fear.
Nemesis's head was down, his face was bloody, but a menacing smile highlighted it. His teeth were now pointed, and he raised his head, laughing maniacally as the diamond in his chest glowed brighter.
"Who said this was all I got?" he said. "I Nemisis, son of Apenxy, shall show you what it means to meet your death."
Patrick's smile disappeared, and he stopped walking. Back at the camp, the Prince and the others were shaken, fear spreading across their faces.
"Did he say son of Apenxy?" the Prince asked.
A gush of energy from Nemisis, creating strong winds that send dust into the sky. He slowly rose, his swords hovered around him, the chain that connected them broken, and red spirit energy danced wildly around him. The diamond embedded in his chest glowed wildly.
Patrick watched, the pressure pushing him into the ground like it was quicksand.
At a certain level in the sky, he stopped and watched down at Patrick with disgust.
"I am here for one thing: to look for my brother. I learnt more about my family, I met my grandfather Kuto, but I'm not done yet, no, I can't die without fulfilling my mother's request."
His eyes glowed white. "You dare prevent me from progressing? You are a hinderance and with that, you must be erased."
"Erased? Ha, don't make me laugh." Patrick said. "All that crap you said means nothing; you are a pathetic fool who tries to prevent the arrival of Xenon the defiler."
"Silence," Nemisis said, his voice causing the mountains to tremble.
Silence followed; only the swords moved around him.
"I have no time for you."
Immediately, a massive wave of pressure erupted outward, causing the ground to crack; nobody could move. Nemisis raised his hands.
"Disintegrate."
The pressure suddenly stopped. Patrick tried to move, but couldn't. He tried to speak, but nothing came out.
Even at the camp and town, no one could move, but they could speak.
"You no longer belong with us," Nemisis said.
A white light shot from the sky and struck Patrick. Immediately, Patrick lost color, cracks appeared on his body, and he broke into tiny sand-like particles that disappeared into the air.
"Creational disintergration" Zoya whispered, her voice shaking, her body trembling.
Kane and the Prince watched her; their expressions weren't bright either.
A portal opened before Nemisis and Lilith stepped out. In her hand was the head of Ball Azazel.
She dropped to one knee, "Master."
Nemisis looked at her, he tilted his head out of confusion.
"What shall we do about the hole above?" she asked.
"Hole above?" Nemsisis asked, frowning.
He looked above him, and there was a massive tear in the sky revealing the cosmos.
"Hmm, how ab-"
Before he could finish, he and Lilith suddenly disappeared.
A crack appeared in the ground the moment they vanished.
The Prince and his men rushed toward it.
It was no ordinary crack; it formed a symbol of the sun, with a moon inside it and a star above.
"A realm was activated," the Prince said. "Who might it be?"
They looked up at the sky as the massive tear slowly closed, restoring the heavens to normal.
[ In the dark void exists a being.
But don't be fooled-
For this being is the void itself...
and beyond even that.
The darkness is merely its presence.
Then-
a bloody red eye opened.
1/9 eyes are opened ]
