Chapter 8 - SEASON 1 | EPISODE 8: THE SUSPENSION AND THE HIGHWAY

The morning sun filtered through the dusty windows of AKPS, but Aaryan didn't feel its warmth. His mind was still processing the "Glitch" conversation he had sensed from the Watchers. He followed his daily routine—push-ups, pull-ups, squats—with mechanical precision. Every muscle in his body was a coiled spring, ready for a war that hadn't started yet.

He walked to school, slipping through the gates like a shadow. But the peace didn't last. During the first period, the classroom door creaked open. The peon gestured toward Aaryan and Vicky. "Principal sir wants to see you both. Now."

Vicky looked pale, his hands shaking. Aaryan, however, maintained a face of absolute marble. He didn't just walk; he calculated every step.

THE OFFICE TRIBUNAL

The Principal's office smelled of old paper and discipline. Principal Sharma sat behind a heavy oak desk, his eyes narrowing as Aaryan and Vicky entered. Beside him stood four students—the seniors Vicky had beaten—along with their angry parents.

"Aaryan," the Principal began, his voice dropping to a dangerous low. "You have always been a quiet student. A loner. But these boys and their parents claim that you were the mastermind behind the fight yesterday. They say you helped Vicky hurt them. What do you have to say for yourself?"

Vicky opened his mouth to speak, but Aaryan stepped forward, his voice calm and devoid of emotion. "Sir, with all due respect, I did not help Vicky defeat or hurt anyone."

"Liar!" one of the seniors shouted, pointing a bandaged finger at Aaryan. "He was standing right there! He was talking the whole time!"

Aaryan turned his head slowly, his cold gaze making the senior flinch. "I was indeed talking. I saw Vicky losing his temper and engaging in a fight. As a fellow student, I was trying to de-escalate the situation. I was telling Vicky to stop, to put down his hands, and to remember the school rules. Unfortunately, he was too focused on the fight to listen to my advice."

The Principal looked at Vicky. "Vicky, is this true? Was Aaryan trying to stop you?"

Vicky, catching on to Aaryan's brilliant lie, nodded vigorously. "Yes, sir! Aaryan was yelling at me to stop fighting. I was just so angry at them for bullying me that I didn't listen to him. He was trying to be a good friend, but I failed him."

The parents of the seniors began to murmur. The Principal called the boys closer. "Is it true? Did Aaryan strike any of you? Did he provide any physical help?"

The seniors looked at each other. They couldn't say Aaryan helped, because they hadn't seen him move. They had only heard him talking, and they couldn't prove what he was saying. "No sir... he didn't hit us. He was just... talking."

"Then it is settled," the Principal sighed, rubbing his temples. "Aaryan, I apologize for the accusation. You were trying to act as a peacemaker. You may return to your class. But Vicky... your behavior is unacceptable. You are suspended for one week. Go home immediately."

THE SHADOW'S SUCCESS

As they walked out of the office, Vicky whispered, "Bro, you almost got caught for my sake! I'm so sorry."

"It doesn't matter, Vicky," Aaryan replied, not looking back. "The goal was achieved. Use this week to train. I'll send you instructions via Bluetooth once you're back."

Aaryan watched Vicky leave the school grounds. 'One week of suspension is a small price,' Aaryan thought. 'Now, the Principal sees me as a peacemaker—a perfect cover. My invisibility is stronger than ever.'

THE HOUSE OF DAMINI

After school, Aaryan returned home, changed into a simple black hoodie, and prepared for his first day at the new coaching center. This was where Meera was supposed to be. This was the territory of the Dark System.

The coaching center was located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood. The sign on the gate simply read: DAMINI'S ELITE ACADEMY.

When Aaryan entered, he was surprised. The atmosphere wasn't like a typical school. It felt more like a sanctuary. The teacher, Damini Mam, was a young woman in her late twenties, unmarried and highly respected. She taught at a prestigious international school during the day and ran this academy in the evening.

Aaryan scanned the room. There were students of all ages—young children from Class 3, hyperactive kids from Class 7, and two serious-looking seniors from Class 11. But as he looked around, he realized something odd.

'There is no one here from Class 10,' Aaryan noted. 'Except me.'

He looked for the girl from his vision—Meera. She wasn't there. He checked his System map, but the "Dark Aura" signal was faint, as if it was being suppressed by something in the building.

Damini Mam noticed him. "You must be Aaryan. Welcome. It's rare to have a Class 10 student join mid-term, but I've heard you are very dedicated. Sit anywhere."

The session was intense. Damini didn't just teach formulas; she taught logic. Aaryan realized she was a genius in her own right. But his mind was elsewhere. He watched the door, waiting for a girl with a violet-black aura to walk in. She never did.

THE HIGHWAY ALERT

Aaryan returned home at 7:30 P.M. The house was peaceful. His mother, Meghna, handed him a cup of hot chai and a plate of biscuits.

"How was the first day, Aaryan? Is the teacher good?" she asked, her voice full of maternal warmth.

"Everything was good, Mummy," Aaryan said, sipping his tea. "The environment is quiet. I think I can really focus there."

He helped her with some chores and then headed to his room for his evening workout. He was halfway through his second set of squats when the world turned red.

[!!! EXTREME EMERGENCY ALERT !!!] [OBJECTIVE: REACH THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY (ZONE 4) IN 10 MINUTES.] [PENALTY FOR FAILURE: PERMANENT LOSS OF 'FUTURE SIGHT' ABILITY.]

Aaryan froze. A permanent loss? This wasn't a normal quest; this was a forced intervention. He didn't even have time to explain to his parents. He opened his window, activated his Movement Speed enhancement, and jumped.

He moved like a blur through the back alleys of Bhilai, his feet barely touching the ground. "System! What is happening? Why the highway?"

[SYSTEM: AN UNREGISTERED ENTITY HAS TRIGGERED A COLLISION EVENT. IF YOU DO NOT INTERVENE, THE RESULTING ACCIDENT WILL ALTER THE FATE OF SOMEONE CRITICAL TO YOUR FUTURE.]

Aaryan reached the highway in 8 minutes, his lungs burning. The road was dark, illuminated only by the flickering streetlights. He stood on the overpass, looking down at the heavy trucks roaring past.

Suddenly, his Future Sight triggered without his command. He saw a silver car—a luxury sedan—speeding toward a stalled oil tanker. Inside the car was a woman... and a girl.

Meera.

But she wasn't alone. In the vision, Aaryan saw a third figure standing on the road, a shadow that didn't belong to this world. One of the Watchers wasn't just watching anymore. They were acting.

"I see you," Aaryan hissed, his eyes glowing with the full power of the System. "You want to test the glitch? Then let's play."

The sound of a screeching engine echoed in the distance. The silver car was coming. The 10-minute timer hit zero.
