Dylan stood there, rooted to the spot, worry clearly etched across his face. She pushed him aside without hesitation, closed the door behind her, and sped off, leaving Dylan with his mouth slightly open as he stared after her in confusion, unease settling deep within him.
"Ermm…"
He coughed lightly as he scanned the almost quiet place.
Apart from the area where the party was still ongoing, brightly lit and echoing faintly with music and chatter, everything else around him was engulfed in darkness. The dim surroundings only stirred up thoughts and worries he had long tried to bury.
The atmosphere dragged him back to memories he would rather forget—events leading up to his assault back in Korea.
He could almost see it again: himself as the last person left in the bar, forced to close up alone. Standing there now, in a similar setting, made his chest tighten with unease.
His fingers began to fidget uncontrollably, and he bit down on his lower lip as fear settled in.
