Jay-jay's POV:
I was late for class because I was hiding from Aries. He and Ella had an argument outside the house earlier. When Aries came back, he immediately started looking for me among the maids.
I was already in my room, locking myself in. I made sure to lock the door tightly. I was afraid that in his anger, he might just throw me out.
When I entered Section E's room, I saw Calix slumped over his desk. I suddenly remembered the stories Mica had told me about him.
I turned to my seat and saw Ci-N smiling at me. I immediately smiled back at him and....
"Hi, Baby!" I greeted Ci-N.
My classmates, who are naturally noisy, immediately looked at me. Because, naturally, Ci-N is a bit eccentric...
"Hello, Babyy!" He greeted me back with a big smile.
I was actually trying to provoke Calix with what we were doing, Ci-N had told me that "Baby" was the endearment Mica used for Calix. So, I thought of something mischievous.
It worked because Calix was already giving me a dirty look. I saw David facing his phone.
"Hi, David... Baby!" I greeted him.
David suddenly turned red and looked away.
Hahaha....
I glanced at Yuri and Keifer, who were both staring at me with expressionless or poker faces.
What's their problem?!
I just rolled my eyes and sat down on my throne, next to my two knights. There are only three of us in the middle, while the rest are at the ends and sides. At least it's an improvement. Before it was just me.
I was busy joking around with Ci-N when suddenly everything went quiet. It was as if and angel had passed by.
I looked around, thinking maybe there was something I didn't see.
Those standing by the door playing Pokémon Go slowly stepped aside and made way. A girl entered.
Ella.
She stopped near me. Even without her saying anything. I could feel her fear. I just didn't know where it was coming from or who it was directed at.
She smiled at me. "C-can I talk to you outside?" She asked.
I glanced at Keifer and Yuri. They were looking at us---well, more accurately, Keifer was looking at Ella, and Yuri was looking at me.
I turned back to Ella, smiled, and nodded.
She went out first, and I followed. We walked a bit away from the room because it was obvious that those nosy classmates of mine would eavesdrop.
"I just wanted to thank you. For what you did for Mica," She said with a smile. "She already told me everything."
I smiled and scratched the back of my neck. I have to admit, I felt a bit shy. "It was nothing. Those D-monkeys were just being crazy."
"We also talked to Aries."
"Ahh.... So he's not going to come after me anymore?" I asked.
Who knows what they talked about.
"No...."
I just nodded. We both fell silent for a few seconds. This was awkward.
"Umm, Jay..." She broke the silence. ".... I want to ask you for a favor."
"What is it?"
"Please continue helping Mica when I'm not around. And also...." She bit her lower lip. "... Please.... Don't let Calix get close to Mica."
I was shocked by what she said. Don't let him get close? Is she saying she doesn't want them to reconcile?
"Huh? W-Why?"
She looked toward our classmate before facing me again.
"Mica was really hurt by what happened---by what Calix did. I can't bear to see her like that again. Once was enough. She's almost moved on."
"B-but that's not really possible. What if they really want to fix things?"
"Mica doesn't want to fix things with him anymore."
"How do you-----"
"Jay!" She suddenly raised her voice. "..... just do me this favor. I'm begging you."
Are they really friends? Why is she talking like this? I get that she's concerned about Mica and doesn't want her friend to get hurt again.
But she doesn't have the right to stop them from reconciling.
"I can do the first favor.... But the second one, I can't promise."
She forced a smile and nodded. She left without saying anything else.
Whatever, I won't stop them. I'll support them in whatever they decided. It's their life.
I went back to the room, and it felt like there was an angel inside. Everyone was quiet, staring at me.
"W-what did you talk about?" Ci-N broke the silence.
"She thanked me for helping Mica and asked for a favor."
"About what?" Keifer asked.
Someone's curious!
"Nothing.... It's between us," I answered half-heartedly and sat down.
Sigh! What can I do about Calix and Mica? Not that I want to meddle, but I guess I have to.
I feel bad for Calix. He looks like a mess. It's true; Mica showed me a picture of Calix before. He was actually good-looking.
But now, he's almost like a homeless person. He's probably gone two weeks within a shower and just wandering around. He's achieved that.
He's too lazy to shave, his clothes are dirty, his hair is long, and his eyes are sunken. He looks like he's always sleep-deprived, and he looks like he's on drugs.
More insults!
I was currently solving a Math problem. Why do life problem have solutions? This one seems like it doesn't.
"Jay..... Do you have the answer yet?" Ci-N asked.
I just shook my head. I didn't really have an answer. Good thing our Math teacher is lazy to; he left us alone.
"The periodcal exmas are coming up," I said.
"Yeah.... Another embarrassment for Section E," Ci-N said.
I looked at him curiously. "Embarrassment?"
"When the final grades for the periodical are released, instead of giving them to us, they lost them on the Main building."
What the..... What if someone fails? Everyone will see. That's so embarrassing!
What's that about? I started to feel nervous.
"That's so unfair...."
"Tell me about it.... They say it's to motivate the students to study harder."
"Not really," I muttered.
It feels like your self-esteem just drops when that happens. You get humiliated in front of the whole school, and then they'll tease you.
I went back to solving the damn Math problem. The class was quiet when suddenly Calix stood up, holding his phone. He looked confused, like he was about to cry.
Is the Math problem that hard?
Then he suddenly ran out. We were all puzzled.
"Follow Calix!" Keifer suddenly shouted, also holding his phone.
Even though we were confused, the others stood up and walked out. Ci-N, David, and I did the same.
We found him in front of the Main building. He was standing far away, watching a scene in the middle. It was also surrounded by students.
We tried to see what was happening, but it was hard because of the crowd. So, I pushed through with my classmates.
In the middle, Mykel was kneeling in front of Mica, holding a bouquet of flowers with a big tarpaulin behind him that said, "Can you be my girlfriend?" Ella was beside Mica, smiling and happy for her friend.
Meanwhile, Mica looked hesitant.
"Say yes...."
"Yeah...."
"Mykel is good-looking."
She can't say yes to Mykel.
Mica automatically looked in our direction.
"Mica....." Calix, who was besides me, whispered.
Mica suddenly started crying. Ella whispered something to her, and Mica slowly reached for the flowers in Mykel's hand.
But before she could even touch them, my hand automatically moved to grab them and pull them away from her.
Sorry. I really had to meddle.
"Is this really what you want?!" I asked Mica.
"Don't meddle in this!" Mykel scolded me.
But I ignored him. I needed to talk to Mica.
"Answer me! Do you still have feelings for Calix?!"
"Jay..... Because-----" Mica didn't get to finish. Ella interrupted her.
"She doesn't love Calix anymore!"
But I still kept my eyes on Mica.
"I want to hear it from you!"
"Jay! Stop meddling!" Aries ordered.
I had no intention of listening them. My attention was only on Mica.
"Answer me!"
She didn't speak. She just looked at Calix, who was behind me.
"Stop meddling! Get out of here!" Mykel shouted at me and tried to take the flowers back.
Instead of letting him, I threw the flowers away, and they scattered.
"JAY!" Aries shouted.
Mykel suddenly grabbed my collar and glared at me.
"WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?!"
Even though I couldn't see it, I could feel the heavy aura of Section E. Even the A students suddenly changed their presence.
I still kept my eyes on Mica, even though my feet were lifted off the ground. Mykel is really tall.
"Let go of Jay!" Ci-N shouted.
"Is this the guy you're replacing Calix with? Someone who hurts girls," someone behind me said.
Mykel was affected and immediately let go of me. Someone tapped my arm.
It was Calix. He smiled at me as if saying thank you.
He faced Mica. "Mica.... Just give me a chance to talk to you. Even just 5 minutes. That's all I'm asking, and I'll leave you alone," He pleaded.
Mica glanced at Ella before answering
"O-okay..... But not here," She said.
Calix seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. So did, I but Mykel and Aries were giving me dirty looks. Ella was also looking at me like she was cursing me.
I'm in trouble!
