Riley yawned for the umpteenth time, while she forced herself to pick up the shredded clothes on the floor. The room was a mess, whoever had done this was a menace to society. He or she deserved to be thrown in jail!
"Mmh-mmh"
Someone tapped Riley on the shoulder. She had fallen asleep again. She stared at the angelic face in front of her for some moments, before she remembered that she wasn't in heaven.
"Sir, welcome sir," It took every ounce of strength in Riley to get up and greet her boss.
"You haven't finished the work yet?" He asked, although he didn't seem surprised.
"The Young Miss had me occupied throughout the day. I'm so sorry. I can leave if you want…" Riley hoped he would send her away
"Oh no," Fuck you Nathaniel "You can continue. I don't think I can sleep in a room like this,"
He uncuffed the cuffs of his shirt, removed his blazer and while he was unknotting his tie, he noticed Riley staring. Somehow, It didn't bother him like it used to. Maybe because she stared at him with sleepy eyes and not lustful ones.
"Don't you have work to do?" The sound of his voice even shocked him.
Riley gave a small smile and rolled her eyes when she thought he wasn't looking. Nathaniel saw her petty gestures and smirked. Why was he having this urge to get under her skin and annoy her to the bits?
---
Riley tried to do the work faster, but her hands and legs refused to cooperate. Was this the hell maids went through in this house?
She finally gave a sigh of relief when Nathaniel entered into the bathroom to do… whatever, she didn't care. She forced herself to move, and bit by bit, the beauty of the room came out. Riley decided to give herself a 30 seconds sleep for managing to clean the entire room despite her state of body. She had wanted to check for evidences in the trash can but she was too tired to do that now.
She counted to thirty mentally as her eyelids closed. "Just thirty minutes…" She murmured, saying minutes instead of seconds.
---
Nathaniel spotted a sleeping Riley when he came out. Now, he could have just been a gentleman and lay her on a thick duvet on the floor, but being a master in experience when it came to females and their antics, he decided to wake her up.
No amount if tapping and shaking woke the maid up. Was she dead? No, he wouldn't allow himself to fall for this maid's antics. He'll carry her back if he has to. He should have just let her leave the time she asked.
Now he had to deal with this
---
"How's the mission going?"
"Mmmh?"
Mrs Miller didn't expect the D.S. to ask her such a question. He shouldn't be concerned, okay, maybe a little, but…
"Barbara?" He called her by her name
"The mission is fine," She responded with a smile
"Has it commenced yet? Do you keep tabs on the undercover agent? And why haven't I heard of any undercover team?"
"There is an undercover team. It's just, not everyone knows it exists. It's quite confidential,"
Henderson was quiet for a moment.
"I don't know what you're planning Barbara Miller, but I tell you this is one of the most serious undercover cases you've been assigned to head. EG is a very dangerous criminal organisation. For three decades now, no detective has been able to crack the case, no metropolitan force has been able to catch the perpetuators. We got a lead, and we're following it. One wrong move could end our lives and livelihood. Everything is a risk, right from the person you assigned this job to. Do your research, and you'll find out what happened to those who messed with the 'EG' and how their entire lineages were wiped out. This isn't funny, this isn't a game Babara. Get things done, and get things done right. I expect good reports the next time I come here,"
He left Mrs Miller thinking. She had been so blinded by her hate for Riley that she did not consider the importance of this mission.
It could cost her her job. And to think she and her husband would soon relocate to the states very soon. She didn't want any case that would hold her back. All she needed to do was make sure the mission went successfully.
She had already secretly fired Riley while she was being converted to a CHIS. The job as a CHIS would only last for three months, the space of time the mission was supposed to last. She could imagine Riley's expression when she found out that she had been fired. Oh the joy!
--- [At the mansion] ---
Riley woke up with a smile, though still sore all over. The bed she slept in was extremely soft. The perfect compensation for such a hectic yesterday.
"Aren't you getting up, or are you planning on continuing your daydream?" Her roommate snapped. Riley sluggishly got up from the bed. It was a bunk bed and she had the up bunk. Amazing.
She started preparing for the day's activities. She looked like a zombie, she hadn't bathed before she slept.
"You're not going to ask how you got here yesterday night?"
"Why would I ask such a ques…" Then she remembered. The thirty second sleep she had planned on having when in Mr Marcello's room. How did she get here? He couldn't have carried… no, why would she think of that.
"How did I get here? Was I carried by someone?"
Her roommate side-eyed and ignored her.
Great. Just great. That's why she hated dealing with people too far from her age, they always tend to 'look down' on her.
