The car turned into the familiar driveway just as the afternoon light began to soften. The moment the doors opened, Sara stepped out of the house carrying one of the triplets. Vael, Davis, and Lirien barely had time to stand before the warm rush of home surrounded them.
Sara smiled widely. "Welcome back. They've been good, but they definitely noticed you were gone."
Lirien reached for Lirael first. The moment the baby settled into his arms, the small hands began patting and lightly banging against his chest, right over his breasts. Lirael made soft, insistent sounds, mouth already searching.
"Someone is hungry," Lirien said with a quiet laugh, adjusting his hold. He pressed a gentle kiss to Lirael's forehead. "I missed you too, little one."
