The newlyweds returned home the morning after the wedding. Soft light filled the family house as Vael, Davis, and Lirien stepped inside. Sara and Aaron were already waiting in the living room with the triplets. The moment the three of them walked in, the babies reached out with small eager hands.
Vael took Lirael into his arms. Davis lifted Dasien. Lirien held Valiera against his chest. The three babies settled quickly against their parents, as if they had been waiting for them all night.
Aaron raised a glass of juice from the table. "A small toast before the day gets busy," he said with a warm smile. "To my sons, to Lirien, and to the family you have built."
Sara lifted her own glass. "To love that chose to stay."
Vael, Davis, and Lirien raised their glasses too. The soft clink sounded happy and light in the quiet house.
"To us," Lirien said softly.
