Kyle opened his eyes. They were already hazy. He recalled the dream that he had. But he was sure that this was not a dream.
It was a memory.
The memories of the real owner.
Painful.
This is all Kyle managed to see. His eyes teared when he recalled that memory. It reminded him of his own past.
He spoke bitterly,
"It seems that we are not different from each other."
Then he wiped his tears because he knew what would happen if they fell. Then he tried to wake up but froze.
He discovered that he was laying on someone's lap and his head was pressed against someone's chest.
He raised his head and looked at the face of the person who was holding him. And he saw striking golden eyes looking at him with worry in his eyes.
Seeing him, unknowingly Kyle's eyes teared up once again and he buried himself in Devin's chest.
...
When Devin was cultivating, he was disturbed by Kyle when he started trembling suddenly. Devin opened his eyes and looked at the person sleeping. The omega was trembling and his lips were partially opened and he tried to say something.
Devin frowned slightly but then his expression changed when he heard a scream,
"Nooooo."
Devin stopped cultivating and came near Kyle. He lowered himself and looked at the omega with worry. He spoke,
"Kyle. Wake up."
But there was no response. Devin's worry increased. He used his pheromones to stabilize the situation of Kyle and tried to wake him but Kyle was not waking at all.
In the end, Devin took Kyle in his lap and wrapped his hands around Kyle. He continued to look at Kyle and the trembling body under him. Devin didn't know what happened to his omega but he felt the pain from the scream.
Unknowingly, more than eight hours passed and Devin saw the trembling omega under him and how he screamed from time to time. Unknowingly, Devin's hold on Kyle increased and he looked at the sleeping omega.
Then he saw Kyle slowly opening his eyes. At first there was confusion, then came the recognition and then Devin saw the pain in those ocean blue eyes.
He heard the omega speak,
"It seems that we are not different from each other."
From that voice, Devin sensed pain. He felt that pain.
He sensed the loneliness. He felt tired.
Then Kyle looked in Devin's eyes and his eyes became teary once again. Devin felt something in his heart. It was anger, disappointment, pain, suffering. He didn't know but he knew that he can't watch Kyle like this.
He let his omega cry for some time and after some time he asked in the softest voice,
"Kyle, can you tell me what's happened?"
Kyle didn't respond but Devin didn't rush him. After a few seconds, Kyle spoke,
"I saw the memories that were buried deep in my heart.
Maybe it was my heart who sealed them because they were too painful or maybe it was my mind who decided that these memories are making me something I am not. So, they were buried.
But I saw a fraction of them and they were too painful.
I saw a little kid of eight or nine years old. His eyes were ocean blue but unlike the ocean which carries the emotions of the many animals and beasts, the eyes of the boy were blank.
There were no emotions in his eyes. It was a painful sight. Then for the first time in those eyes, I saw fear.
A fear that caused the soul of the child to sink deep in the ocean itself."
His voice trembled as he spoke. Devin listened silently. He knew who this story belonged to.
Kyle continued,
"The reason for the fear appeared in front of him. A man whom the child called father. He was a mortal. He entered the room and removed his clothes. He said that the child was his pleasure toy and it is his duty to serve him.
The child started trembling."
Devin's eyes widened when he heard that. His eyes turned cold and they started to glow more golden and in the depth of his eyes, a dense killing emerged but then he suppressed it and continued to listen.
Kyle told him everything.
He told him how isolated the room was.
How the child's eyes glowed with determination to be free.
How the child attacked the man.
How he ran from the world.
Kyle continued,
"I saw the determination in the eyes of that child. The determination slowly turned into something else.
He became tired.
He felt lonely.
So, the child ran in the water.
Many fish surrounded him. The child smiled after so long and then his eyes started to turn heavy. I heard him say that he was finally free.
And then he closed his eyes and fell in the water."
By the end of his voice, Kyle started crying once again and he soaked the clothes of Devin. Devin didn't care. He continued to hold Kyle in his embrace.
He gently rubbed his back and then he heard Kyle speak,
"That child was not me."
Kyle became confused when he heard that but Kyle continued,
"That child was Kyle.
An identity that doesn't belong to me.
I am not that Kyle."
Devin didn't know what it meant but he still spoke,
"Yes. You are Kyle Arther. You are not him."
Kyle paused but then he shook his head. He raised his head and looked at Devin.
"Devin. I told you that a relationship is built on trust and a misunderstanding is something that can cause the relationship to fail. I don't want that.
With any of you. So, give me time.
In the future, I'll tell you.
But I can tell that those memories belonged to Kyle.
A child who only wanted love and emotions that can end his suffering.
He felt those emotions from someone that was not worthy. It was never his fault that he didn't love you guys.
You guys just didn't come into his life at the right time."
Devin remained silent when he heard that. He was becoming more and more confused but he still trusted Kyle.
He lowered his head and kissed Kyle.
He spoke in a soft voice,
"Kyle.
You promised that you will protect our relationship and I gave you a chance.
Today, I promise you that I'll try my best, so that you will never feel that loneliness ever again."
Kyle heard this. His heart calmed down.
He smiled and then he looked at Devin. He raised his head slightly and kissed Devin on the lips.
Devin was surprised but then he saw Kyle withdraw from the kiss. Kyle spoke,
"Thank you.
And I will definitely keep my promise but I need to convince others also.
I didn't meet with the other two. Only you visit me. So, I planned to go and meet my butter."
Devin was stunned when he heard that. He looked at Kyle and his strange way of calling someone butter but then he remembered whom he is calling butter and laughed slightly. But there was also jealousy in his heart.
He looked at Kyle and spoke,
"Then what am I?"
Kyle raised his head and looked at Devin. He saw jealousy. His earlier mood slipped and he smiled and said sweetly,
"Although you are my third husband in the documents and in front of the world, from now on, I hereby declare that you are my only hubby.
Is that okay? Hubby."
Devin felt something stirred in heart and for the first time, he blushed heavily in front of Kyle.
Kyle saw this and he laughed. But his laughter paused when hungry lips crashed against his. He didn't protest or stop.
After all, he also needs energy after that memory fragment. He kissed back.
Devin stopped the kiss and spoke in a hoarse tone,
"Call me that again?"
Kyle looked at him and smiled. He shook his head and spoke,
"Nope. I am afraid that if I call you that, you will pin me down and I don't have time for that. Today, I have a lot of things to do."
