Chapter 15 - Aftermath

'Was that actually not a dream? Was that reality? But wait, how would that even be possible?!'

Koji had all sorts of questions with little to no answers for any of them, indeed this situation was very troubling.

'What if that girl tries to come for me? That would be extremely bad, she literally froze over an entire town!'

But Koji had no time to think, as just as he was recalling the information of the dream suddenly the door was bust open!

Lin opened the tall, wooden door with his large hand; his hand looked as if he could crush a human skull under it with enough force.

Slowly, his whole broad figure was displayed to Koji as he stepped into the room. His face having a smile plastered over it.

"Get up kid, we are starting class early today!"

Koji's face twisted in annoyance, he was just worrying about something important, but now he had to go to class!

"Later!"

Lin's smile didn't waver, his demeanor still being cheerful.

"Nope, we are starting now; so get ready to learn."

Koji rolled his eyes, if one was to be there to experience his demeanor they would not think he is six years old.

"Fine..."

He got up, his small body walking towards Lin, who's stature was a pure contradiction of Koji's.

Lin nodded, not speaking further as he felt the situation needed no more talking.

He led Koji through the living room, the big chandelier still lighting up the space; after they walked through the living room they went out the front door and were instantly hit by a beam of sunlight.

All around them there was greenery and trees, flowers covering many spots of the grassland; the sun was out and shining brightly.

The temperature could be described as just warm; the wind could barely be felt by Koji and Lin.

Lin sighed as he took in the sunlight, then turning to Koji with now a serious expression.

"So, tell me everything you know about being a Transcendent so far Koji."

Koji was still annoyed, but tried to recall any information he picked up during his time here.

"Well, I know Velsit, Relics, and Zelits are all linked. I also know that a Transcendent is someone who has more than one Xin core; each time you break through to a new rank you are breaking through a layer of balance. Also, when you become a Transcendent beasts start to target you; Relics are physical existences that can release Zi or Li, Zelits absorb Zi or Li, and Velsit stores Li and Zi. Your bodies adaptation towards a Mantra is dependent on what Relics you hold. Also, the ranks are Miniscule, Midstreamer, Indomitable, Radiant, Iridescent, Demi-Immortal, Immortal, and Demi-God; the Relics and Zelits also have ranks: Minor, Middle, High, Peak, Lustrous, Eternal, Eurasic, and Leniec. The amount of Velsit you have in your body is determined by the number of Xin cores you have..."

But Lin interrupted him right as he said the last part.

"Wrong, whoever told you this simplified that too much. It's not how much Velsit you have, it's the amount of Li or Zi your Velsit can store. It doesn't do this by being more in quantity, the Velsit is just able to condense the Li and Zi more. Which also translates to being able to use more powerful versions of them."

Overall, Lin was pleased with how much Koji knew. But he still had some things to clarify.

"Also, when you become a Transcendent the beasts that target you is dependent on class. So a Miniscule like you would only be targeted by a Miniscule beast, Unlike a Midstreamer who would be targeted by Miniscule beasts and Midstreamer beasts."

Koji's brows slightly furrowed as he heard that.

'Come on dad, you didn't care to mention that?!'

But he quickly calmed down, at least he knew the truth now; meanwhile there was a question he long since wanted to ask.

"So how do you create a new Xin core?"

Lin smiled, he liked Koji's automatic curiosity.

"Well, so you are a Miniscule; to become a Midstreamer you have to take a Relic of Minor class, and a Zelit of Minor class. You have to pour energy into the Relic at a pace of 9% of your Li and Zi per second, and then release that energy from the Relic at a pace of 5% every second, and then you absorb it with the Zelit at a pace of 2% every second. This is basically teasing your body and soul into thinking you are in a constant state of near death, and eventually your body will start to adapt by forming a new core. But while doing it the Xin core only gradually becomes a full Xin core, which is why some Miniscule level people are way more powerful than others. Basically, one Miniscule could have a 10% formed third Xin core, and one could have a 90% formed Xin core; of course, when it reaches 100% you become a Midstreamer."

Koji deeply focused his attention to this information being explained to him, but even then it was hard to comprehend all of it.

But before he could express his thoughts, Lin spoke up once again.

"Yes, yes. I know you won't remember all of that in full but it's okay because you will practice it a ton over these next few years. However, before we begin that I'm going to train you to fight with your hands; low level Transcendents barely have any Relics, most fights are with hands. So I'll teach you that first."

Koji's expression went slightly blank.

He was going to have to train with this big guy? What!? If this guy barely tapped him he would go flying. Not only that, he thought Lin was gonna teach him all the basics of being a Transcendent first.

Well, base level fighting skills could be considered the basics. However, Koji's expression was still that of one who was puzzled and scared all at the same time.

Lin smirked as he saw Koji's expression.

"But don't worry, you won't train against me. Instead, you'll train against my daughter, Ivory."

Koji slightly relaxed, but his worries were not automatically resolved. This daughter of his could be extremely proficient in martial arts for all he knew; anything was possible.

Under Lin and Koji's gaze, Ivory walked to them. Her demeanor was not shy nor excited; she just had no expression. Her white hair slightly flowed in the mild wind, her dark green eyes contrasting perfectly with the greenery around them.

"Come on Ivory, lighten up. You finally have a sparring opponent!"

Lin lightly patted Ivory's back, her pale, expressionless face now brightening up slightly.

Now her demeanor was slightly eager, as if she was waiting for this moment.

"Daddy, do I hit him now?"

Lin nodded as she asked that, but then he looked over at Koji with an expression of slight pity.

Koji tried to prepare himself, although he had zero experience in fighting he still hoped he stood somewhat of a chance.

But right then, Ivory dashed at him.

'Why is she so fast!?'

Koji could comprehend her movements still of course, but she still had incredible speed.

'Okay it's fine, I'll just dodge!'

He moved to dodge the elbow she flung aimed at his face, but suddenly he winced in utter pain and fell to the ground.

She had kneed him in the groin!
