'What the hell?'
Koji's eyebrows darted up in surprise as the sound alerted him; he had never heard anything like this while living on this world.
"Stay here everyone."
Ivan took the initiative; instantly getting up from his seat and walking across the table, through the living room and out the door to see what the commotion was about.
What he saw was extremely shocking.
Two figures were knocking down the luscious, tall trees while fighting. One was wearing white robes, the other wearing grey robes.
Obviously, they were both Transcendents. The one with white robes was using four Relics at once, which all were summoning different kinds of rocks and gems and forming them into either spikes or even one big spike all together.
The grey robed one was using five Relics, which all had to do with fire. He blocked the spikes with a shield of fire, and then ignited the spikes and repelled them back at the white robed one; the white robed one blocked them with a shield of stone.
They continued their battle, trees being obliterated due to their combative exchange. The peaceful day was now distorted into a ruthless field of battle for the two combatants. The wind howled, the birds stopped chirping and flew away, and the forest became nothing more than a battlefield.
Just by observation, Ivan could tell these two were Midstreamers. In fact, not only that; he could also tell that they each were only low tier Midstreamers. Just by a look at them he could also tell they were around 40 years old, which means they didn't have too much talent; however, they definitely had experience.
But this ground was not for fighting.
Since they brought their fight to his property, legally he was allowed to act. Of course, as a castle guard he would really like to keep a good reputation; killing two people, no matter the laws they were breaking would be heavily looked down upon by people.
But these two were causing too much damage to the property, usually this big of commotion would gather the attention of locals and city guards, but this time it seemed that is was more of a low-key situation.
He could either wait and go notify the city guard, or he could act himself.
Ivan already made a decision, so he dashed at them and summoned a Relic; this Relic was a sword!
But the sword was enhanced with light; the blade was around five feet long and the edges of it were shining with a white light, however the middle of it was a silver that perfectly reflected the area around it.
Weapon Relics were interesting, because they were a combination of a Relic, maybe even multiple Relics, and a weapon.
Say you take a normal sword, you can infuse it with a Relic to give it a power and make it much stronger. However, the more powerful the Relic the harder this was to do. Of course, you can also combine a weapon with Zelits.
To combine them you would have to place the weapon on the ground and forcefully fuse the Xin of each Relic and Zelit into the sword, you would do this by releasing your Velsit into both of them and sending the Relics energy into the sword and absorbing it back out the sword with the Zelit. It was extremely similar to nurturing a new Xin core for yourself actually. But then it gets complicated, because after you make around 50% progress is when you have to start adding in materials. You know when you're at 50% because the weapon will start floating in the air. During this stage, a single wrong move could cause the weapon to break. So you have to be extremely careful; anyways, the materials needed depend on what you are making and what level power it is. For a Fire Mantra sword of Minor level, you would need only common fire materials you could find from fire beasts or even just around nature. However, for higher ones it is much harder. Also, the process is much more excruciating the higher you go.
Ivan's was a Midstreamer level, so it was pretty difficult to create. In fact, a lot of Midstreamers didn't even use Weapon Relics because they were too expensive, and sometimes not very effective.
However, this was not the case with Ivan's at all. His light sword could absorb the light of the sun and exert it onto his enemies. Light was similar to fire, it could also burn you. But he could also use the reflective properties of the sword with the light to blind opponents temporarily. Not only that, but the light could effect other Relics. Relics had weaknesses too, and light was a big one. It is unknown fully why light is so effective against other Relics, but many think it has to due with the history of the world.
Nature was created by good, life by evil. But it is also said that when good died it became the sun, and Relics were formed by life being slaughtered. So using a Relic to use the light of the sun, which is something formed by good to target something formed by evil is extremely effective.
That's right, that's how Relics were formed; by killing beasts. Certain beasts had different powers, so when you kill a beast the Xin cores in it and the Velsit inside of them have a chance to form together into a Relic. Of course, Relics could also be created.
But that conversation was for another day.
Because the two fighters saw Ivan rapidly approaching with his sword, and they instantly stopped attacking each other.
In this situation, the enemy of my enemy is my friend! They both thought of this, now instead targeting Ivan.
The scene was just as tense as it was before, if not even more. Although Ivan was only one man, they both didn't know what powers he could possess. So they were extremely wary, well at least they thought they were wary enough.
Most Midstreamers were not able to target two other Midstreamers, but this was not the case with Ivan; even by Formidable level Transcendents, he was considered strong.
He still wore his dark blue guard attire, with gold patting along the shoulders and waist. It flowed in the wind as he dashed at them with incredible speed.
Both the Midstreamers instantly formed their shields, one having a fire shield the other a stone shield.
But the next second, it was over. Light suddenly flashed and Ivan was behind them, but not only that.
Their heads were on the ground!
He looked down, his face containing a hint of pity. But not for the two he had just slaughtered, but for the blood on his attire.
Their heads rolled on the grass, until they both stopped at Ivan's feet.
"Light is the essence of sight, is it not? Such a stupid pair."
He created an illusion with the power of light, because after all, as he said. It was light that allowed one to see!
