What interrupted him was the girl Lin was standing next to at the door; she cut off their conversation.
Her dark green eyes showed a bit of desperation and pleading, her pale white face being that of someone who only goes outside when the clouds block the sun.
"Daddy, I'm hungry!"
Lin was not at all mad at her for interrupting them, in fact he seemed quite joyous.
"Ask Koji's mom to make you some food okay Ivory? Don't be nervous."
She pouted a little bit at his reply, after all she had not had much interaction with people other than her father.
'So her name is Ivory, she looks like she'll be quite the beauty when she's older...'
Koji eyed Ivory as she was pouting, and then she walked off.
As Koji looked away suddenly he felt Lin staring into his very soul.
"Sorry kid, she is off limits."
Koji's face scrunched up in anger; he was not going to prey on this young girl!
"I don't want her anyway!"
He said very harshly, as if Lin just accused him of wanting to commit a crime.
Which technically, he did.
Lin just chuckled.
"You're a mean one aren't you? Such an attitude at six years old, pretty surprising."
Koji grumbled but didn't entertain Lin with any reply.
Which may seem rude, but their time was coming to a close anyway.
It was now night, the moonlight shining through one of the tall windows. Therefore, it was time for Lin and Ivory to leave.
They said their goodbyes, of course they would be back tomorrow and the day after that; which meant they didn't waste their time on super long goodbyes.
They had dinner after Lin and Ivory left, and then Koji walked back to his room.
'Although I don't fully approve of him, at least he'll be teaching me some things that hopefully will help me in the future. It would be a real shame if I didn't learn anything these next few years, so I will pay upmost attention to his every word. I can't afford to waste time, because if I do then it could lead to my death if I ever encounter a really hard situation.'
The thought of death almost made him shiver as it crossed his mind.
'Death... This is a horrible thing, the end of everything.'
Some people don't fear death as much as others; however, if you compared Koji's fear of death to that of someone who is considered fearful of it, then it would be like comparing an ant to a mountain.
'I get why people aren't afraid of it, after all it's not something you can perceive or feel. But really, to me it is the most terrifying thing to even be thought of! It's the ultimate end, no more consciousness. You genuinely can't think of what it would be like to die, because there is nothing to think about! That in of itself it terrifying. Once you die you become just like an object, nothing. Something for other people to look at and discard; no longer are you part of this world.'
His thoughts drifted to a point he heard many talk about back on earth.
'But that doesn't mean that consciousness is a curse or something, to me it is the greatest gift of all! Because if you were never born you would just always be dead; just like everything else. No perception of your own, no thoughts; nothing at all. Therefore, I shall treasure this gift by using it to the best of my ability, by enjoying it to the best of my ability! That is my purpose. My single purpose is that I don't want to have a purpose.'
But something still troubled him. Koji, although a person who always talks about not troubling himself with things and enjoying his life, often the greatest hardships he has to face are when he's left alone with his own thoughts.
'My sister...'
As he thought of her, he could not help but feel a bit sad.
'Although in the moment i gave it no attention, because I was in a life threatening situation...'
Now was different.
'Such a pitiful life she had, our uncle tormented her to no end. Yet, she still always protected me.'
As much as he wanted to respect his sister for that, he was unable to because of his views.
'Letting yourself be hurt to protect others, such a stupid thing to do! Come on sis, why are you so stupid?! Maybe if you weren't then he wouldn't have hurt you so much! But I understand you, don't worry sis; it's not that I think what you did is wrong, it just doesn't align with what I'd do.'
At first he was angry, but his mood changed to a bit of understanding for his sisters actions.
'My uncle, how I hate you. How I want you to burn! But, the thing is...'
Worse than everything else, he hated the fact that he slightly understood his uncle too.
'My sister, my uncle. Both had reasons for what they did; who am I to criticize them? We all have our own views and act according to them, so how could I say mine are superior and insult them both? It makes no sense...'
Even his fucked up uncle, who had tormented his own sister; he couldn't bare to judge him harshly. Of course, that did not mean he didn't want his uncle to be punished.
What he didn't realize, is that he was standing at the door without opening it for awhile now.
He finally came to his senses. However, he made a very big mistake.
Usually, he would knock to let Lucy know he's coming in.
But this time was different, and as he opened the door he found her in a very bad situation.
She was completely naked; her white, soft skin completely on display for anyone who walked in to see. She rushed to cover her 'parts' and instantly yelled at him to look away.
