CHAPTER 52:MORRISTON VIRTUAL REALITY(MVR)
I stood there, my voice shaking as I stared at the old woman.
"You expect me to just stand here and believe this story about a twin sister without losing my mind?" I said.
My chest was moving up and down fast. It felt like my skin was too tight.
Patricia did not move. She just sat there in her rocking chair. Her old hands were pressed flat against her wool shawl.
Ariana was leaning against the wooden mantelpiece, her teeth biting into her lower lip so hard I thought she would hurt herself.
"I do not blame you for reacting like that," Patricia said quietly.
I laughed. It was not a happy laugh.
"You just told me I have a sister I never knew existed," I said.
Ariana snapped at me.
"You think you are handling this better?" she said.
I turned to her.
She pointed at herself.
"I just found out I have a sister who owns a company while I have been struggling to pay rent my whole life," she said.
I shot back at her.
