I'm sooo sorry for ghosting y'all! I swear I didn't mean to... I just had my mid year exams. 80 marks. But I'm back now! Though I should have told you all it's really my fault...
Kiefer's pov.
I was so goddamn happy. I was with my girl. I was with my Jay. We had taken the food outside and eating. Well, she was eating. I was just watching her eat.
I mean, can you blame me? She looked absolute gorgeous. She always does. She's absolutely brilliant, and knowing how much she built all by herself made me feel proud of her and made me decide one thing.
She should never have to do that ever again. Building a whole empire secretly just to protect herself. I will protect her from now on, even if she doesn't need it. I will make sure she doesn't have to act strong with me.
I was so lost in her, that I didn't even realise she said sometimes until she snapped her fingers in front of me.
"Earth to kwanan?"
I frowned. "Why do you keep calling me that?" All I want to hear is my name from your lips in your voice Jay. I missed it. I missed everything about you. Every single second.
"Because I want to." She said simply. Well, it's not really a surprise to me. I always knew my wife is savage. "What were you thinking about anyway?" She asked.
"You." I answered honestly. "Who or what else do I need to think about when you're right next to me?"
"There you go being cheesy again." She said, even as her cheeks turned slightly pink.
"What did you tell me?" I asked her.
"I said I haven't poisoned the food." She said.
I frowned. What was going through that head of hers now? Was she overthinking again?
She rolled her eyes sensing my confusion. "You haven't touched the food till now." She explained.
"I want a different kind of food." I said, a grin growing on my face as I stared at her lips. Well, I couldn't help it. I missed kissing her. More than I'd like to admit.
"Idiot! Shameless idiot." She said swatting my arm. "My cooking is good. So why aren't you eating?"
"I was too busy admiring my wife."
"You're married? You got married in London? WHAT THE FVCK ARE YOU DOING HERE THEN?! GO BACK TO YOUR WIFE!!" She said, practically shoving me so much, I almost fell from my seat.
"Jay! Stop! I was talking about you!" I waited until she stopped hitting me. "How can there be anyone else except you? I can't even think of surviving without you, or with anyone else." I clarified.
"I'M NOT YOUR WIFE WATSON!" She said looking thoroughly annoyed at me.
"Soon to be then."
"No. Eat your food."
"Yes, wifey." I said. She shot me a glare and rolled her eyes and stuffed some food into her mouth with enough force and vengeance to make me grateful that I escaped a punch. I probably shouldn't push my luck this much and annoy her.
So I decided to just eat silently. I took one bite of the food, and stopped immediately. I turned to look at her in awe. "Jay."
She was watching me expectantly.
"This is so good. Like it's really good. It's delicious." I said. She grinned like I had just presented her an award. And seeing her happy made me smile to. That was another thing about her. She always found happiness in the littlest of things. And she doesn't really care much for material things.
As I ate more, I realised it tasted familiar. It tasted very similar to my mom's cooking. That tought bought tears to my eyes. She always insisted to cook for us even with all the maids. Her cooking was the only sense of safety in that cursed house with that monster Kaizar.
Jay noticed and frowned. "Kwanan? Is something wrong? Is the food not good?"
I shook my head and smiled. "It tastes similar to my mom's." I said.
She just nodded, though her eyes softened just a fraction.
"Mama Reycee taught me." She said after a minute, her voice barely above a whisper. I looked at her quietly.
"Do you miss her? And your dad?" I asked her.
"Every single second of the day." She said, her eyes slightly tearing up. I stayed silent. Knowing she'd elaborate if she wanted to. I wasn't going to push her.
Jay's pov.
I was still thinking about when he mentioned wife and I thought he was married and he told me there was never anyone else.
Wow Kwanan. What a big fat lie. I know you got engaged to Ion. Even if it was forced, he should have told me when I brought the topic up right?
Why didn't he tell me? Is he still hiding something? Did he actually used to like Ion before?
I decided to ask him and see if he'd answer truthfully.
Kiefer's pov.
I remained silent since she seemed so lost in thought.
"Was there really no one else in London?" She asked suddenly.
"There will never be anyone except you Jay." For some reason, she looked slightly angry when I said that. I'm probably just imagining it right?
But then I felt guilty. Because, well, I hadn't yet told her about ion. She knew ion was there for my birthday because of those messages. But she didn't know about the engagement. But what if I tell her now and I lose her.
Honestly? That whole fake ass engagement meant nothing to me. I'm already happily married to my wife. My life. My everything. My Jay. In my mind. But maybe I should tell her before anyone else does and it turns into a misunderstanding.
I sighed. "Actually Jay there is something I have to tell you. But promise me you won't get mad at me."
"I'm already mad at you. And I make no such promises." She muttered. I went on with it anyway.
"On my 18th birthday, when you were texting ion about Angelo and then called her from my phone to wish me, I was actually sitting right next to her. And that day- that day the elders announced something."
"But I swear it meant nothing. I disagreed immediately! But they actually announced-" I started.
"Your engagement." She finished.
I blinked. "Wait- what? How did you-"
"I already knew. I just wanted to see if you would say it."
"I see. So I passed the test?" I asked.
"We'll see about that." She answered.
"When did you come to know?"
"Even before you came to know."
"How?"
"You're not the only one with ways, Watson." She said. I smiled.
"If you knew before me, you could have at least warned me and I would have stopped the engagement even before they announced it." I said.
"Back then, even if I knew you were forced and I came to know you ended it... I thought it was none of my business since I thought you didn't really love me." She admitted, staring at the sea.
"I don't love you? That's literally the most impossible thing ever."
"You were the one who said it!" She retorted.
"I know. And I'm really really sorry Jay."
We are some more in silence. Then suddenly she spoke again.
"Thank you." She said. I frowned, confused.
"For what?"
"For kidnapping me here." She said.
"It's not kidnapping Jay." I protested weakly.
"Well, whatever it is, thank you. The last time I remember sitting around doing nothing work related or school related or CBI related was-" she paused, thinking of the last time. Then her eyes got a faraway, sorrow look as she started into the sea. "- was 8 years ago. When I was 9 years old and my parents were still alive." She completed, her voice barely above a whisper as tears streamed down her face.
I wrapped my arms around her and let her cry and let it all out. "I'm here now Jay. I'm never leaving ever again and I'll make sure you get as much relaxation and peace as you want." I said, then leaned down and kissed her head, sealing the promise.
