Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"So?" Quincy said to me, a sly smirk playing across her lips as she settled down on the couch beside me. "How was last night?"

Fucking fantastic.

After my eventful night with Mr. Piercing Blue Eyes, I couldn't pinpoint the exact moment I went to sleep. All I knew was that I woke up beside him, naked underneath his sheets. It was about 5 AM and the sun had not fully come out yet. I quickly slid back into my dress, gathered my things and carefully slipped out of his penthouse without waking him.

I took an Uber home and had a quick hot shower before dropping on my bed and getting more sleep.

I only woke up about an hour ago and had something to eat before going over to Quincy's apartment to check on her.

I mirrored Quincy's sly smirk as flashbacks of the night came flooding in, "It was fucking awesome, Quin. That might've just been the best sex I've had my whole life."

She let out a dramatic gasp, "You're kidding."

"I honestly wish I was." I said, that smirk still playing on my lips.

"Well?" She pressed on, widening her eyes and pushing her head forward like she was expecting me to say more. "Was that all it was? Did you get his number? Talk a bit?"

"What?" My face scrunched up. "Ew, no."

"What do you mean 'ew'?" She smacked my arm. "That man was fucking fine."

"Yes," I agreed, "but he seemed like the kind of man that would ruin your mental health if you try to get to know him better. I don't even know his name."

"Really?" Quincy chuckled in disbelief. "I think I heard Carlos call him Will."

"Ugh," I scrunched my face again, "why did you tell me? I enjoyed the mystery."

"And apparently the sex too." She teased. "How could you possibly not want to keep having mind blowing sex like that?"

"I don't know," I shrugged, "I'm not one to complicate things. I had a one night stand with a complete stranger, it was fucking amazing and I don't care to know much more about him. I think it was the mystery and the knowledge that I'd probably never see him again that made the entire thing feel so …exhilarating."

"Well, I get your point." She nodded slowly in agreement.

"Also, he seemed like the kind of person that can be pretty rude. I don't know how to put it, he just gave off that vibe. Which was why I bolted out of there before he could wake up and have an excuse to speak me in any disrespectful kind of way." I added, but quickly shook it off. "Anyway, enough about me, how was your night with Carlos?"

"Girlll," It was her turn to smirk, "let's just say we both had the night of our lives last night."

"Oh, my God." I laughed in excitement.

"Only difference between you and I is that I'm gonna keep having mind blowing ridiculous sex because it sure seems like he wants to as well." She said slyly. "And oh my god, Maddy, those men are rich rich. I mean, you can just tell. Carlos' place is huge and he looks like the kind of man that knows how to spoil a woman so, sign me up."

"Alright Quin," I said, my smile still on my face, "just make sure you're careful and you don't get attached."

"Sweetie, you don't gotta tell me that twice."

I chuckled, "Good."

"So, have you officially quit your job at the bar yet?" Quincy asked.

"Nope." I answered. "I'll stop by tonight to give Barry the good news."

"Good news?" She lifted a brow as a soft laugh escaped her. "You mean terrible news. Barry might cry when he finds out he has to let you know."

"Well, Barry can suck my dick for all I care. I'm so happy to be done with his bullshit." I exhaled a breath of relief.

"I'm so happy you're done with his bullshit too." She smiled. "I'm so excited for you and your new job. You start Monday, right?"

"Yup." I smiled. "First thing."

* * *

It was Monday before I knew it.

I thought I'd be better at hiding my fascination at being in such a prestigious company where the ceilings were so high above my head and the number of floors were nearly endless, seeing as this was my second time here --- but, I wasn't.

I still found myself marveling at how simply breathtaking the interiors were and how there were a thousand different people swarming in and out and up and about the building. Everyone seemed so busy and important and they were dressed in such a sophisticated manner and I absolutely adored how they all carried themselves.

I put quite an effort into my look today, seeing how it was my first day. I wanted to make an impression.

I had on a mid-length corporate maroon red dress, made of fabric of really good quality. Its sleeves were short, and the length of the dress hugged my body, perfectly accentuating my curves. Underneath, I had on a see-through black panty hose, which I finished off with my completely spotless black stilettos. My bag was also black to match my shoes.

My hair was tied up in a sleek ponytail which I could feel swing as I walked. I also had enough time to invest in my makeup this morning. I wanted to make sure I looked just as good as everybody present in this building, and I think I did a pretty good job in pulling that off. Which was why as I walked, I walked with confidence.

It wasn't hard for me to locate HR this time, unlike the first time I was here for my interview. Immediately I got there, I was instructed to wait alongside a few others, all of whom I recognized from the day of the interview, while we filled out a few forms.

Eventually, two more ladies joined us and once we were complete, the HR lady who conducted our interview, Mrs. Thornsmith, made her way over to us to address us.

We were six in total; four ladies and two men.

"Good morning all." She said to us warmly. "Congratulations once again."

"Thank you." We all said in unison.

She handed each of us a file one after the other.

"We carefully assigned you to our executives based on your resumes, interviews and how professionally compatible and efficient we believe you can be as secretaries to these people." She informed us. "Everything you need to know about your respective bosses are in those files and directions on how to get to your desks are stated there as well. But for today, I will have someone escort you to your work stations and give you a proper introduction to your bosses."

We nodded in understanding as about five other HR workers filed out, showing each of the women their way.

I was about pulling the file open to get a glimpse of which of the executives I was assigned to when Mrs. Thornsmith placed a hand on my shoulder, causing me to look at her.

"Miss Clarke?" She said to me and I nodded. "Come with me."

I did as I was told, following close behind her as she approached the elevators.

"You, Miss Clarke, have been assigned to our CEO." She said the same time the elevator opened and we stepped inside.

I tried not to show how shocked I was at the information but clearly, I failed because just as she hit the elevator button for the 15th floor, she proceeded to say, "You seem shocked."

I mean, of course, I was.

I knew I was applying for the personal secretary position for a high end executive but I never believed it would be for the CEO himself.

And the fact that I was the one who got assigned to him?

It was crazy.

"Well, I can't say that I'm not." I said honestly. "I mean, just last week, I wasn't even sure I was going to get this job in the first place and here I am, finding out that I'm going to be working for the CEO."

"Why did you think that?" She asked me. "That you weren't going to get the job."

"Because you seemed quite uninterested and unamused the duration of my interview." I said to her. "I just thought-"

"I have to seem that way because it is part of the needed qualities of an interviewer. I can't make it obvious that I'm impressed. You, Miss Clarke, were actually the candidate that showed the most outstanding potential out of all the people I interviewed." She said, almost fiercely, as she looked me in the eye. "That was until those words came out of your mouth just now. You will have enough people trying to tell you you're not good enough, do not be one of them. In this kind of world, there is no room for self-doubt, are we clear?"

It almost sounded more like a threat than an encouragement.

"Crystal." I said with my head high and my posture straight.

As if on cue, the elevator dinged open.

"Good." She nodded. "Now, shall we?"

I followed closely beside her as she led us further into a section of the floor. I swear, everywhere you go in this building was just equally as filled with people.

Mrs. Thornsmith stopped in her tracks immediately she noticed a group of men file out of what I assumed to be a boardroom, some of which dispersed into various parts of the building while just a few, about three to four of them, moved like they were heading in our direction.

My breath almost got stuck in my throat when I recognized the man in their middle as the man from the club.

No.

No way that's actually him.

No fucking way he works here.

Or even worse…

No.

This couldn't be happening.

"Good morning, Mr. Torres." Mrs Thornsmith said with a bright smile as the three men stopped in front of us.

Suddenly, his eyes met mine and I could see realization flood his features with each second that passed by. My heart raced so hard against my chest that I feared that it would explode. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole.

"Mrs. Thornsmith." He said in that deep, low tone of his, nodding in acknowledgement. "What brings you here?"

"I wanted to introduce you to your new secretary sir, Miss Madelyn Clarke." She said, looking at me and gesturing to him. "Miss Clarke, this is your boss, our CEO, Mr. William Torres."

Holy fucking airball.
