Chapter 44 - His Name Her Power

Lucy left the meeting room, her steps calm but her mind unsettled.

"I need some fresh air," she said.

Adrian looked at her for a moment, studying her face. Then he nodded.

"Alright," he said. "Go."

She turned to leave.

"Lucy."

She stopped and looked back at him.

"Be careful."

She didn't say anything, just gave a small nod and walked out.

Outside, the air felt lighter, but it didn't calm her completely.

She stood there, looking around slowly.

She couldn't lie… the buildings were beautiful.

Everything looked expensive, powerful, untouched.

For a moment, she forgot where she was.

Then—

A soft laugh.

Sharp.

Mocking.

Lucy didn't turn immediately. She already knew who it was.

"Enjoying the view?" the woman said.

Lucy stayed quiet.

The woman stepped closer, her heels clicking softly against the ground.

"Let me ask you something," she said. "Do you really think Adrian is going to keep you forever?"

Lucy turned slowly to face her.

Her expression was calm.

"He's just using you," the woman continued. "And when he's done, he'll push you away like you never existed."

Lucy let out a small laugh.

"At least I'm being used by him," she said. "Not being rejected."

The woman's face changed instantly.

Anger flashed in her eyes.

She stepped closer to Lucy, closing the distance between them.

"You think you're something special?"

Lucy didn't move.

The woman raised her hand to slap her—

But Lucy caught her wrist immediately.

Her grip was firm.

Their eyes locked.

"Don't try something you'll regret," Lucy said quietly.

Then Lucy hit her.

The sound echoed slightly.

The woman staggered, shocked for a second.

Then anger took over completely.

She started calling Lucy names, her voice filled with rage.

But Lucy didn't even glance at her.

That silence only made the woman more furious.

One of the security guards quickly went inside to report what was happening.

The woman suddenly moved again—

And this time, Lucy didn't see it coming.

The slap landed hard.

Lucy lost her balance and fell to the ground.

For a moment, everything felt still.

The doors opened.

Adrian and the others came out.

His eyes immediately found Lucy on the floor.

His expression changed instantly.

He walked straight to her, fast and controlled.

"Lucy."

He bent down and helped her up, holding her carefully.

"What happened?" he asked, his voice low but filled with anger.

Lucy didn't speak.

She simply pointed at the woman.

That was enough.

Adrian's jaw tightened.

After making sure Lucy was steady, he turned and walked toward the woman.

Each step carried weight.

Silence fell around them.

When he stopped in front of her, he brought out his gun and pointed it at her head without hesitation.

Gasps filled the space.

"No one touches what is mine," he said.

His voice dropped colder.

"And most importantly… her."

The woman's anger didn't leave, but fear slowly crept into her eyes.

"You're going to kill me just because of her?" she asked.

Adrian didn't blink.

"If you give me a reason," he said, "I will do it without thinking twice."

The other mafia bosses stood there, shocked.

They had never seen Adrian act like this.

Not because of a girl.

The woman clenched her jaw. "You're really going to lose control over someone like her?"

Adrian's finger moved slightly on the trigger.

Before anything could happen—

Lucy stepped forward quickly.

"Adrian."

She held his hand.

Her fingers wrapped around his wrist.

Slowly, she brought the gun down.

"Please, Adrian," she said softly. "Just let her be. She doesn't worth it. Please… let's just go home. I'm hungry."

Adrian looked at her.

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then he sighed quietly.

He lowered the gun and put it back.

But the tension didn't leave.

He stepped back and faced the others.

"Lucy is mine," he said.

His voice was calm, but dangerous.

"Anybody who wants to be my worst enemy or wants to die should lay a hand on her."

His eyes moved across all of them.

"And that person should be ready to watch me burn down what they have built in years."

No one spoke.

No one moved.

Lucy turned and walked toward the woman.

She leaned close to her ear.

Her voice was low.

"You see now…"

A small pause.

"I am Mrs Adrian."

The woman's body tensed.

Lucy's lips curved slightly.

"I stopped him from killing you today," she whispered. "Next time, I won't stop him from pulling the trigger into your head."

She stepped back.

The woman stood there, holding so much anger inside her.

Lucy went back and held Adrian's hand.

"We should leave," she said softly. "I need something to eat."

Adrian looked at her for a moment, then held her hand tightly.

"Let's go," he said.

They both walked away.

Leaving everyone behind in complete shock.

In the car, Lucy wondered what had come over her and how she managed to act that way. She looked at Adrian as he drove and smiled, thinking maybe he was the reason when you stay with someone like him, you start to behave like them a little.
