The car moved through the night in silence.
Lucy sat at the back, her hands tight in her lap.
She didn't look at him.
She didn't look at Jurbe.
She just sat there, trying to understand what just happened to her life.
After some time, the car slowed down and entered through a large gate.
The compound was quiet and too organized.
The car stopped.
"Take her inside," he said calmly.
The door opened.
Lucy stepped out slowly.
She turned slightly, her eyes going to him for a second.
He didn't look at her.
The men led her inside.
The door closed behind her.
Jurbe stepped out of the car.
He stretched his neck slightly, then looked at him.
"You really brought her here, Adrian."
The name came out normally.
Like it had always been there.
Adrian adjusted his sleeve, not bothered.
"She agreed," he said.
Jurbe let out a small breath.
"That wasn't agreement. You backed her into a corner."
No response.
Jurbe looked at him again.
"She didn't take anything."
"I know."
Jurbe frowned slightly.
"You know… and you still did this?"
Adrian looked ahead calmly.
"I don't act without reason."
Jurbe studied him.
"Then what's the reason?"
A brief silence passed.
Then Adrian spoke.
"She's not like the others."
Jurbe gave a small smile.
"So you took her because you like her."
Adrian didn't answer.
That silence was enough.
Jurbe shook his head lightly.
"You don't usually do this."
"I do what I want."
Simple. Direct.
Jurbe nodded slowly.
"Yeah. That sounds like you."
For a moment, both of them stood there in silence.
Then Jurbe spoke again.
"Are you going to tell her your name?"
Adrian turned slightly.
"When I decide to."
Jurbe gave a small nod.
"Alright."
Adrian walked toward the house.
Calm. Certain. Like everything was already under control.
Jurbe stayed back for a second.
Looking at the door Lucy was taken through.
Then he followed.
Inside the house, Lucy stood in a place she didn't recognize.
Quiet.
Still.
Her heart beating fast.
She didn't know where she was.
She didn't know what would happen next.
And she didn't know the man who just took her life away.
