Cecilia and Liana were ushered into the hall, and Rebecca's face immediately lit up with a warm smile. "Good day, Mother... and sister," she greeted them, looking from one to the other before adding, "I wasn't expecting you to come today."
She moved forward to embrace them, but after pulling back, she looked at them with a hint of surprise. "Does Cedric know about your coming?" she asked.
She was still caught off guard by their sudden arrival, because if Cedric had known they were coming, she expected him to tell her beforehand so that she could be prepared to receive them properly.
From the way the servants were already taking their luggage and carrying it further into the house, it was obvious that they had not come for a brief visit and would likely be staying for some time.
"Do I need an invitation to visit my brother's house?" Liana asked, fixing Rebecca with a look that made her question sound less innocent than it might have seemed.
