"…Thea?" Ray called again.
Her fingers twitched once more, then her shoulders jerked.
A low strained sound escaped her throat. "Ghh… gahh gah…"
Her head snapped up rapidly, causing Ray to instinctively become alert.
Then at once, her body lunged forward.
"Raahhh!!"
"Shit!"
Ray jumped back just in time as her hand swiped through the air where he had been seconds ago. She was way too fast than he'd expected. It was just like those from down below. The supernatural speed and unnatural agility.
She stumbled forward again, her movements were jerky but aggressive, like her body hadn't fully adjusted yet, but her intent was clear. To take a bite out of Ray's body.
"Being a muscular guy, you'll really have a lot of meats and fats to enjoy. But I can't let you bite me!" Ray yelled.
Thea charged forward again. This time, faster and more efficient than before.
Ray grabbed the nearest thing he could find: the IV stand and shoved it forward, attempting to disrupt her movement somehow.

It hit her shoulder, throwing her slightly off balance, but she didn't fall. She didn't even seem to feel it. She straightened up almost instantly.
Her head tilted again.
"Ghh… gaaah…"
Ray's hands trembled. He didn't even realized it, but he has been backed to the corner completely.
Thea lunged again, but Ray had no way of escaping from her encounter. They both struggled till they crashed to the ground.
"Ugh…!" He groaned.
Before he could react, she was on top of him, pinning him down with terrifying strength.
"Thea… wait…!"
Her face hovered inches from his. Her dead, empty eyes locked onto him.
There was no hesitation nor recognition in her eyes. The only thing she knew was the hunger rumbling in her stomach and the need to satisfy that urge.
Then she bit down.
"AAH!!" Ray shouted.
Pain exploded through his shoulder as her teeth sank deep into his flesh.
He gritted his teeth, trying to push her off, but she wouldn't budge. It was funny how the light weighted girl from minutes ago was now proving difficult for him to push away.
"What kind of strength does she have! Ahh!" He said, trying his hardest to push her away, but her grip was inhuman.
She continued to bite deep and hard into Ray's shoulders. But then, she stopped completely, like her body stiffened.
Her expression then turned into that of disgust. She pulled back slightly, her lips curling as if she had just tasted something foul.
"…Gh…?" She spat the chunk of flesh in her mouth away.
Ray blinked in shock, breathing heavily. "What? Do I taste bad? Could it be because I haven't bathed in days?"
But, just before he could think further, a transculent blue screen flashed before his eyes.

Ray's eyes widened.

"What the hell is this?!"
Then suddenly, an immense amount of pain hit him deep from within. It was far too deep to be called superficial.
"Aaahhhh!!"

His body arched violently as if something was tearing him apart from the inside. He could feel his bones being crushed. While his veins felt like they were splitting open.
It was as if something new was forcing its way out of him. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and his vision blurred slightly.

Everything went silent for a split second.
Then the transculent screen popped up again.

At that moment, Ray noticed that his breathing had disappeared completely. It was as if he had no heart at all.
The screen popped up once more.

Ray stared at the screen for a moment.
"I-I am a Vampire…?" He chuckled surprisingly.
It sounded unbelievable, but he wasn't so stupid to not realize that something about him has changed drastically.
It was then that he realized that the bite wound on his shoulder had disappeared. It was like it was never there before. But when he looked at who had inflicted the wound on him, he discovered that Thea was no longer in the room with him.
She must have snuck out of the room when he was going though mutation or whatever was happening to him moments ago.
He was going to chase after her when the transculent blue screen appeared above his eyes again.

He hadn't even finish saying that when the door suddenly exploded inward.

The metal handle snapped off the wall as someone stumbled inside. It was the nurse assigned to their ward. But unlike what she once was, she had part of arm already bitten off. It was clear as day that she's no longer human.
"Fuck me." Ray bluttered as he quickly got off the floor.
The nurse has been infected, and it seems to have occurred for a while now. That will explain why Thea couldn't find her when she needed to treat her wound.
