After Malzahar's body completely vanished into the starlight, even more Rek'Sai and Kog'Maw continued surging toward them.
But the people Caleb had brought possessed the power of the Aspects, and it felt almost endless.
Yet as Caleb looked around and saw no further movement, his heart could not help but sink. He had not seen any Void Watchers.
That could only mean that, up to this point, they had still only been making minor trouble.
They had indeed struck the enemy, but against the Void as an entire plane, they had not hurt it badly enough.
Caleb thought for a moment. Perhaps it was because the creatures here were decreasing in growth rate rather than continuing to increase.
So for Caleb, what they had to do next was simply hold out, minimize casualties as much as possible, and then withdraw safely once the operation was complete.
His side had made its move. What came next depended on how the Void would answer it.
Clearly, so far, no Void Watcher had appeared.
But that meant the Void Watchers were rare, not that the commotion was too small.
Even if Rek'Sai were treated as a grunt only one level above the little bugs, they had already killed more than enough by now.
"Ezreal, the one who fought alongside you in that ancient tomb, isn't here right now, is he?"
Caleb even had enough energy left to tease Kai'Sa with a relaxed tone.
"Don't start that."
Kai'Sa's Icathian Rain no longer required plasma. She had the entire region of Shurima as her backup source of energy.
Besides, if one counted carefully, she was the first person since Shurima's rise to become an Ascended through the Ascension ritual.
Because of that, she had also received some faint blessing of fortune.
Putting everything else aside, compared with Renekton and Nasus combined, she was still quite a bit stronger.
"The Watchers still haven't appeared. We can't let our guard down."
Kai'Sa's expression was heavy, while Norra, whom Yuumi had found, also joined the ranks fighting back of her own accord.
Norra truly lived up to her title as a yordle enchantress. In terms of magical talent, she perfectly used the Book of Thresholds and cast many spells Yuumi had never used before.
Caleb's thoughts did not continue for long, because very soon, he saw something like a twisted ball of threads, and the Void creatures around it all became excited.
"Right. The Void Watchers only take on a shape after they descend into the mortal world. Before that, it's normal for Watchers with other shapes to appear."
Thinking this, Caleb did not hesitate. He charged toward the other side with Serylda's Grudge.
"That's the one!"
At Caleb's shout, two enormous figures behind him followed right on schedule.
One spread his wings to their fullest, watering his own body with the blood of the creatures around him.
After all, once they were done here, the bodies of the Ascended would no longer be usable.
They could only have Xolaani reshape new ones for them.
Because of that, all the Darkin present fought much more wildly.
Trading wounds for kills was nothing.
The other figure gave off a dangerous aura, yet remained faint and elusive, making him feel impossible to grasp.
Aatrox and Yaanogel guarded Caleb at the same time.
"Aatrox, if you fought him one-on-one, could you win?"
Caleb had seen Aatrox's battle beneath the Abyss before, and it had left a deep impression.
Dragging a huge mass of monsters up from the bottom of the Abyss had indeed been a shocking sight.
But compared with Aatrox at his peak, Caleb also knew it had still been missing something.
Even so, he was already more than impressive now. Every swarm that tried to pounce over was cut down by Aatrox's massive sword.
As for the "big eyes" in the distance preparing to fire lasers, they were each pierced through by a huge spear.
Caleb advanced without any effort, and Falling Star erupted once more.
The Watcher struck down by starlight was still trying to climb back up when two enormous weapons and an arrow came flying over at incredible speed.
"Taking care of this one isn't that hard."
"But the colossi are going to be harder to deal with."
Caleb's expression turned ugly, because after that, Cho'Gath, even larger than the ones under the Abyss, had already surrounded them.
These enormous monsters had bodies formed from extremely hard exoskeletons. Even with their terrifying weight, they would not crush themselves.
Of course, their speed in reaching this place was slower, but the pressure they brought was the truly overwhelming part.
After devouring within the Void for so long, the lineage of Cho'Gath, the Terror of the Void, could only grow larger and larger compared with the ones beneath the Abyss.
Before Caleb could think of how to deal with so many massive enemies, he heard Rengar let out a low growl beside him.
"The hunt begins!"
"Let's see who's better!"
After Rengar's figure vanished, Caleb could only vaguely see a human-sized monster that looked like a mantis.
It looked extremely similar to the Alien from the Mecha suits.
Caleb did not even need to be told. He knew Rengar and Kha'Zix had already begun killing each other.
Whoever won in the end would gain a further evolution.
But what about the Cho'Gaths?
And the Void Watchers slowly arriving behind them?
"Aspects!"
The ground beneath their feet kept cracking apart, and venomous spikes extended upward, throwing people into the air.
Their shrill cries also forced every brave warrior present to cover their ears.
Spikes shot from their massive bodies, stirring up a storm of blood and gore across the battlefield.
Caleb also understood now that the elite combatants he had brought could no longer simply mow down enemies.
Even if they lost some people in a frontal clash, it would still be far better than being slaughtered by the Watchers.
"Good!"
Sunlight descended from the heavens and covered Cho'Gath's body.
A spear plunged straight down in front of a Watcher, making it impossible for the other side to advance even a step.
Moonlight covered the entire land, causing the minds of everyone nearby to relax slightly.
Then a shockwave descended. The unstoppable Mecha Malphite locked strength with a relatively smaller Cho'Gath.
Starlight also favored everyone present. Without caring whether the healing would overflow, Soraka drew a blessing from among the stars, and it descended upon every warrior on the battlefield.
Taric reflected that radiance, briefly opening an immortal shield from among the stars, and the entire force charged forward with even greater bravery.
"This should be enough…"
Caleb still moved near Kai'Sa, helping her deal with a Void Watcher.
Also protecting her nearby was Kassadin, holding the Nether Blade.
Unlike before, when Icathian Rain had only been scratching Rek'Sai, every shot Kai'Sa fired now carried the fundamental power of Shurima.
One could even say it was the power of the world itself.
So Kassadin, walking through the Void, relied on the Nether Blade in his hand to continuously carve crack after crack beneath Cho'Gath's hard shell.
And after all the Cho'Gaths collapsed with heavy crashes, Caleb looked at that manta-like body waving in the air, and his heart could not help but sink.
