Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: Arrival (EC)

"Well, isn't this convenient?"

Caleb looked at the warship speeding toward them and smiled from the bottom of his heart.

Honestly, ever since he had obtained these two divine artifacts, Caleb had never dared attack with his full strength.

This really was perfect timing. He had only just arrived in the Freljord, and he had already run into a group of berserkers.

Caleb thought he was pretty lucky.

The cherry-blossom blade slowly slid from its sheath. The ship with its sails fully unfurled was about to draw alongside the cargo ship Caleb was on.

Zaunites were no slouches when it came to grit. The captain had already taken up weapons with his first mate and aimed at the other side.

The cargo ship slowly turned as well, preparing to use its side to withstand the collision.

Caleb had to admit, watching this scene made his blood heat up a little.

The Freljord was an even more chaotic place than Zaun. In other words, as long as your fists were big enough, you were right no matter what.

For Caleb, that meant there was no need to start out here by reasoning with anyone.

That really was a blessing.

Before the ship even docked, several ropes were thrown over.

"This place is this barbaric?"

Kai'Sa was a little shocked. She had thought her own village was already humble enough compared to Caleb's city, but this place looked even more wild and uncivilized.

A flash of blade light swept past, and all the ropes were cut at once.

The pirates only stared at one another for less than a second before the pirate ship slammed heavily into the cargo ship.

Screams rang out from inside the cabin. Kai'Sa swayed, but still managed to steady herself.

To her, these were living people. Perhaps that would make things difficult.

"Should you maybe go below deck too?"

While the other side was still throwing out the second round of ropes, Caleb turned his head and asked.

"No need."

Kai'Sa's expression gradually darkened.

Not everyone was worth saving. That was something she understood, in the end.

Although she had always been fighting the Void, Kai'Sa's nature, especially in battle, had become particularly decisive and clear-headed.

"If they're going to murder and rob people, then they should be prepared to die," Kai'Sa said in a low voice.

It was not as if she had never seen bandits in Shurima. She had simply thought people like that were ultimately a minority.

"Then let's hope they've already made their peace with it," Caleb said, unable to keep from smiling.

How could it not be exciting to finally stretch his arms and legs properly and really let loose for once?

For the time being, Caleb did not plan to use the magic on his body, nor the Serylda's Grudge inside him.

At least, not against this pile of small fry.

He would use Youmuu's Ghostblade, along with his own name, and pretend to be a traveler from Ionia.

The blade light was clear and cold, like winter water.

Caleb stepped forward and slashed down without the slightest mercy.

Freljordians rarely wore armor, usually only putting on a helmet.

And whether they wore one or not, it did not change the fact that their bodies could be cut open.

"Hmm…"

Caleb adjusted his grip on the hilt, changing into a reverse grip.

With a high leap, Caleb crossed from the cargo ship onto the deck of the pirate ship instead.

Forget the stunned captain and crew, even the pirates on the other side were dumbfounded.

"Charge, charge, charge!"

Yuumi shouted as the Book of Thresholds had already flipped to the Final Chapter.

Under the impact of the magical wave, the pirates who had originally planned to swing over to the ship were all frozen in place.

Before they could react, a storm from Icathia had already bloomed in midair.

As the projectiles exploded in the pirates' faces, Caleb's movements across the ship had already started leaving afterimages.

"I'm having the time of my life!"

Yuumi looked extremely happy, and one Prowling Projectile smashed a pirate straight into the water.

Caleb gripped his blade with both hands. With only a single flash of blade light, the extremely thick mast broke away from the ship.

The cut was so neat that even the pirate leader fell into a daze.

Was this swordsman from Ionia really this strong?

The world spun. The scenery in the leader's eyes changed rapidly.

At the end, what entered his sight was a headless corpse that was still standing.

"We're killer partners."

Caleb had pinned down too many pirates, so Yuumi simply leapt onto him.

"It's rare to get to enjoy myself this much."

Caleb also showed a smile, then brought his blade down viciously.

The entire warship was split in two.

Watching the ship slowly sink, all the passengers came out onto the deck and cheered as they welcomed Caleb back.

"This won't make things difficult for you, will it?"

Caleb asked the captain in a low voice. The other man smiled and shook his head.

"How could it? Being saved by Governor Caleb is our honor."

The ship slowly restarted its motor, raised its sails, and sailed gradually toward the port.

Before long, snow-covered icebergs came into view.

"This is already pretty good. In winter, the surface of the sea freezes over with a layer of ice. It's cold enough to kill someone."

As the cold air swept in, the passengers still on the deck all went to find their luggage and add more layers of clothing.

"Here."

Caleb handed over a coat. It had been produced in Piltover, with snow-white fur lining.

"Thank you."

Although she felt it would restrict her movement, Kai'Sa still accepted Caleb's kindness.

Caleb looked at the deep mountains before him, his expression solemn.

He had crammed a lot of background stories for a while before this. At the current stage, the two powerful warmothers, Ashe and Sejuani, had probably already risen.

On top of that, there was Lissandra, guarded by the Frostguard, faintly forming a three-way balance of power.

There were also so many demigods, spirit walkers, and shamans.

Just thinking about it all made Caleb feel that it was tangled and complicated.

If Ashe and Sejuani were the two easiest ends of the rope to find, then the entire Freljord was a hopeless knot.

A hopeless knot that felt like it could only be chopped apart with a sharp blade.

Yaanogel was not by his side either, so of course Caleb did not have much confidence.

The only thing that could be considered a trump card was the bluebird bracelet Janna had once infused with spiritual energy.

Aside from that, there was the Sorcery rune quietly floating inside his system inventory.

They arrived at the port. As usual, the Freljordians in charge here came forward to check the state of the cargo.

The passengers slowly descended the stairs, including Caleb and Kai'Sa.

In truth, with their physiques, the two of them had long since stopped fearing wind and cold.

It was just that Caleb was using Youmuu's Ghostblade after all, so he put on a thick cloak.

He disguised himself as a swordsman from Ionia who was traveling the world.

Kai'Sa also put on a hood. The traces of magic on her face now became a symbol of the Vastayashai'rei.

"Tell me, isn't that girl a looker?"

The harbor guards on the two's right were sizing up these two people, who obviously looked out of place, with ill intentions in their eyes.

It was only because the pretty boy's blade looked extraordinary. Otherwise, the two guards would definitely have gone up to question them.

At worst, they could apologize, then invite the two of them to a tribe near the harbor for a drink later.

"This place is more desolate than I imagined," Caleb said emotionally as he looked at the Freljord, which could only be described as plain and primitive.

"More than desolate. In a place where magic is this dense, the resources are actually this scarce."

When Kai'Sa was in Shurima, she would often return from the Void to the human world to replenish her plasma.

But in a place like this, she was not sure whether her skin and her own body could withstand that kind of hunger.
