Chapter 85
JAIME'S POV
It felt like I was careening down a steep hill at terminal velocity with no brakes, fully aware of the wreckage waiting for me at the bottom. Ever since I'd been caught with Katsha, everything had shifted. Georgia had transformed into someone unrecognizable. What stung the most was realizing she actually had the capacity to be so emotionally cold toward me.
I honestly never thought she could last a day, let alone a week, without me. But the way she was moving on made it feel like she was systematically scrubbing me from her mind and heart.
None of this would be happening if Nikolaj hadn't kept interfering. If she actually fell for him, it would mean I'd lost every ounce of leverage I had over her.
Looking at her now, I could see the fingerprints of a plan she'd hatched with Rheia. She was desperate for her freedom, and she clearly thought exposing my affairs was the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card.
