Chapter 75
GEORGIA'S POV
I searched for Nikolaj's gaze, but he refused to look my way. He just moved his food around his plate, seemingly lost in thought. My heart was hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. Everything was spiraling out of control.
This wasn't how things were supposed to go. I forced myself to swallow and looked at the family members gathered around the table. They were all staring at me, waiting for a response. "What... what time?" I managed to stammer.
"We'll send for you when we're ready," Lady Maddison said. The look she gave me was cold enough to draw blood; it was clear she'd love nothing more than to cut me out of the family tree entirely.
Honestly, if she wanted me gone, I wouldn't fight it. I had zero desire to remain part of a dynasty governed by endless protocols and a suffocating list of "dos and don'ts."
