Chapter 71
GEORGIA'S POV
Panic hit me like a bucket of ice water. My chest felt tight, and my heart began a slow, frantic climb toward a manic rhythm. This was it. Was I about to be blackmailed by her, too?
If the family found out I had slept with Nikolaj, I was finished. None of them wanted to see me near him as it was.
"What are you doing eavesdropping on us?" I snapped, trying to go on the offensive.
Merry just arched an eyebrow. "Eavesdropping? Was there something I wasn't supposed to hear? I only came by to see if you were sleeping okay." She looked at us with a perfectly crafted expression of cluelessness.
"Why start now? You didn't check on me yesterday or the day before," Rheia pointed out sharply.
"Tonight was a bit much for Georgia," Merry said, feigning a sweet innocence that I knew was pure garbage. "Being stuck with Jaime probably had her boiling inside. I just wanted to check in."
