By the time the last of the presents had been opened, the living room looked like a wrapping paper tornado had passed through and decided to stay for Christmas.
Boxes were stacked beside the tree, ribbons were tangled around chair legs, and Mi Mi had completely abandoned the mountain of paper in favor of her new dollhouse. She was sitting cross-legged on the floor, carefully arranging tiny pieces of furniture inside the miniature rooms while having what appeared to be a very serious conversation with the dolls.
"No, you cannot sleep in the kitchen. That doesn't make sense."
She moved one of the tiny dolls across the floor.
"Because you're a princess. Princesses have bedrooms."
Another doll was placed beside the first.
"And you're the husband. You don't get to decide where the furniture goes."
I glanced over my shoulder from the kitchen.
I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.
