"Do it somewhere else."
I laughed and picked up the first gift I'd gotten him.
"This is yours."
He took it from me but didn't open it.
"You didn't have to get me anything. I have all the money I need to buy anything I want."
"I know."
"Then why did you?"
"Because I wanted to."
His lips curved into a smile.
"That answer is dangerous."
"Just open it."
He slowly removed the wrapping paper and opened the box.
Inside was the silver ring I'd bought for him.
His eyes immediately went to the engraving.
For a moment, he didn't say anything.
"You like it?" I felt way too anxious for my own good.
He picked it up.
"Phoebe."
"What?"
"You bought me a ring."
"You're my fiancé too. You should also have one."
