Lyra's POV
He took the knife or should I call it the sword and pointed it to his heart and before I could say anything he stabbed himself and the ring flew to the middle of the room glowing in snow white and the blood on the halfmoon of the ring started turning into crystal snowflakes making the once cold banquet hall even colder but this cold didn't scream violence or fear instead these cold snowflakes felt warm unusually warm I thought as some mantras started being said from the air and suddenly in the middle of the room the roof of the hall was gone and a big cloud like form came into view and splitting through the middle came a cool shade of light falling directly on the ring.
"THE KING OF THE DEMON WORLD HAIL" a female voice said through the light
"I AM THE MESSENGER OF THE SKY LORD I AM HERE TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT AND THE SKY LORD IS HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE FOUND THE CHOSEN QUEEN OF THE DEMON CLAN ITS A RARE OCCASION ALMOST AFTER THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGAIN THE RITUAL IS BEING FOLLOWED BY THE DEMON CLAN BY THE GRACE OF THE LORD YOU MAY BECOME ONE BY HAVING A WEDDING ON THIS SAME DAY AFTER A YEAR THIS IS THE DATE SET BY THE HEAVEN ITSELF"
said the messenger and the sky goddesses chanted some mantras before the ring became two completing the hal fmoon and the clear sky was gone and the normal banquet hall came back into view again.
I looked at everyone shocked and even Lucian looked surprised as the people started chanting
"lord and princess hail.. lord and princess hail"
and before I could speak anything his features hardened and both the rings were in his hands and he handed me a ring and one to himself and Martin stopped all the people from hailing and soon the ceremony started
"may you live forever happily and give us your heirs soon for this demon clan"
said the three old men but Lucian's eyes never left me.
"Who even are you"
he said near my ear as he pulled me close and slid the ring onto my finger and I just looked into his eyes and his features hardened and he gestured for me to put the ring on his finger but the same finger had the green ring the one I needed to take and I smiled to myself and he removed that ring and held out his hand and I held his gently and put the ring on his finger and the hailing started again and he pulled me closer by my waist and came to my ear
"welcome to my world princess"
he said very darkly and kissed my earlobe a light feather touch making me go weak and I instantly moved aside and he smirked and I glared at him and was about to say something when the eyes that haunted me a few seconds back came into clear vision now.
I looked at the man in front of me and he was no less than Lucian both of them were equally built but Lucian was an inch taller than this man and I thought who is this man but he never left my eyes like he was trying to figure out something but couldnt pinpoint it exactly and before I could greet him
"he is the dragon king meet him Lyra"
Lucian said suddenly pulling me close by my waist and I shifted uncomfortably in his hold and oh is he the dragon king I thought widening my eyes and looked back to see Cathy but she was nowhere to be found and I got worried and
"dont worry she is safe"
said Lucian rather loudly and the dragon king named Leviathan smirked at his hand
"yes she is rather safe"
said that man his voice cold and Lucian turned cold to him and I just gave a nod to Leviathan cause I felt him kinda familiar but I didnt know why but for now my main priority was to escape this I didnt have time.
I smirked looking at Lucian earlier when he was having his staring competition with the dragon king I slowly slid the green ring from his hand and I smiled to myself before hiding it in my dress and I have to do this I thought and smiled at Lucian innocently and he looked at me like I was some weird creature.
"Luciannn... can you leave I need to go to the restroom"
I said going near his ear and he visibly gave a shake and I smirked seeing his reaction and
"yes you can go princess" he said smirking and I went from there cursing him under my breath
"I will someday rip that smirk off of his lips rude piggy jerk" I was scolding him but smiled again thinking hopefully that day wont come if I just getaway today.
I was walking towards Lucian's room when I saw Cathy walking with four demon guards surrounding her and she was looking totally tensed and I thought about meeting her one last time when a big man just like the dragon king came in front of her and she cried and tried to go near him but the demon guards stopped her and I quickly snuck back to the wall at the corner not letting them see me.
"Let me talk to him once" she said crying and the guards looked at her.
"I am sorry ma'am but if the demon lord finds out he would skin us alive" the guards said visibly shaking so this mighty man was Inferno the fiancé of Cathy and I sighed who would not guess she was crying a river for him and I shook my head.
"I will handle that we will talk here" Cathy said after a moment and the guard agreed and Cathy immediately hugged Inferno crying
"please take me from here Inferno I promise I will marry you we will live happily" ,
"I would take this marriage and we will be happy away from all this" she said and I looked at her sadly and he hugged her tight and pushed her away.
"If the dragon king sees you and me it won't be good... the engagement..." he paused and I thought what an asshole cant even rescue his woman and then what he said next made me and Cathy shocked.
"The engagement is cancelled."
Cathy looked almost drained.
"Since you left the dragon clan everyone thought you are an informant for the demon clan since you are here we got to know the information about you everyone says you are the betrayer of the dragon clan and they want to... they want to exile you" he said and Cathy moved back in shock.
"W-what... w-what do you mean by that Inferno" she asked and I could see her trembling and her hands were shaking and sweat was starting to form on her forehead and she held his collar .
"why... why... d-dont you know me... d-dont you know what happened... how I got lost... okay leave everyone out... d-do you think I am a betrayer... d-do you think" she asked her eyes pooling with water ready to fall any second "answer me" she said and he just looked down and she let go of his collar.
"I expected better from you Inferno... better... after so many years of love it meant nothing to you... did it mean anything" she asked her voice breaking and her whole body was shaking like a leaf in a storm and he just looked down.
"I am sorry... I need to leave Miss Miller" said Inferno and he walked away and she fell to the ground crying so hard that her shoulders were heaving and I could hear each sob echo through the corridor and my own heart was breaking watching her.
I was about to run to her and hug her when suddenly the demon guards fell unconscious to the ground and I thought what is happening and then a cold sharp terrifying presence entered the corridor and Cathy was visibly shaking on the ground and he went to her laughing evilly.
"Got betrayed by your fiancé" said that man Leviathan and he took her hand in his hold and dragged her somewhere and I quickly followed hidden in the shadows in case he did something bad and she was screaming and shouting for him to let her go but he never let her go instead he held her hand tight.
"You are coming back to the dragon clan" he said and I was about to stop him when she looked at him.
"I-I cannot come" she said firmly but her voice was stuttering and her legs were shaking and sweat was dripping down her temple.
He stopped.
"why as everyone said are you the betrayer" he pressed the word betrayer like a knife twisting into her chest.
"N-no... my... my... dragon bead is taken away by Lucian" she said and the dragon king let her go and looked at her like if she even dared to move he would kill her right there on the spot .
"Every time you prove to me you are worthless half-breed" he said and she fell back to the ground crying hard her whole body curled into itself like she was trying to disappear and he walked back and I quickly moved back to the wall cursing myself for being there .
He passed me and stopped and turned around and looked at me and my heart stopped and I looked at him and quickly tried to hide my hands but by the time I hid the ring he had already seen it and he smirked and laughed evilly.
"Happy escape princess" he said and opened a portal and before I could say anything I was in front of the mirror.
"W-what... whats happening...
h-how did he know...
how did he know I am escaping...
at one glance he knew I am escaping and even the plan of escaping would the demon lord also know about this...
ahh how would he know if he knew he would have put me locked right... or not" I was talking to myself my voice shaking and my hands trembling and sweat dripping down my back
"ahh... if he didnt remember me I would have forgotten the escape... thanks brother" I said to the empty space ahead of me smiling but my heart was pounding so hard I thought it would burst out of my chest.
I was finally going home.The mirror looked at me ,
"its time your highness,you have to leave" she said and I nodded taking out the ring and my heart was pounding and I looked back once and all the memories of the past few days came over me like a flood and without me knowing a tiny tear left my eye and rolled down my cheek
"I will miss you Cathy" I said and the mirror looked at me,
"its okay your highness everything happens for a reason" she said and I nodded and looked at the green ring and took a deep breath and slowly started walking towards the mirror and touched the mirror point and it opened the place holder of the ring and I clutched the ring hard praying to God to let it happen successfully.
And just then a big portal opened.
Lucian.
His eyes were glowing red and his horns were glowing red and he was practically bigger than normal and he was looking like the real demon lord for the first time since I came here and I stumbled back in horror my legs giving out beneath me and sweat pouring down my face and I couldn't breathe I couldn't think I couldn't move.
He was walking slowly toward me each step echoing like thunder in my ears and I turned around and put the ring on the placeholder and turned around to leave to the mortal world by closing my eyes and there was big silence and I opened my eyes to see...
Him. Close to me. His face inches from mine. His breath cold against my skin.
"Did you really think you could escape me, princess?"
He dragged the words slowly each syllable dripping with something dark and dangerous and he came near my ear and I felt his breath and my whole body froze and sweat dripped down my neck and he whispered ,
"Let me show you what hell would really be like if you cross me."
