The silence that followed Tae-jun's words was heavy, pressing against the glass of the suite like the dark Jeju tide.
Tae-jun watched his sister's conflicted expression, his own face remaining as calm and unreadable as a deep lake.
"I know what you are thinking, Eun-soo," he said, his voice dropping into a softer, paternal frequency.
"But let me tell you something based on my own experience in this world we were born into."
He leaned forward, his presence commanding the space between them without him ever having to raise his voice.
"Kang Min-ho… you have met him once or twice before, and your experience with him was not bad, was it?"
Eun-soo remained silent, her mind flickering back to the polite, polished man who moved with the same effortless grace as her brother.
"Min-ho told me personally that he enjoyed his blind date with you; he found your perspective refreshing," Tae-jun continued.
"So why not just give it a try? At the very least, you can be friends for now and perhaps, in the future, become partners."
Eun-soo looked up, her voice a small whisper. "Partners… is that all it is to you, Oppa? A merger?"
Tae-jun didn't flinch at the question; he simply reached out and tucked a stray hair behind her ear.
"Think about it carefully. Min-ho is good for you because he speaks your language without you having to translate."
"He is from a prestigious family; he understands the weight of a name and the cost of a reputation because he grew up in the same shadow as you."
"He will be able to understand your problems more because of that similar childhood the loneliness of the top floor, the expectations of the boardroom."
He paused, his gaze turning sharper, more analytical, as he moved to the subject of the man currently occupying her heart.
"On the other side, you have Seo Jin-woo. A man who made everything on his own, through sheer will and intelligence."
"I respect that. But the things you find natural, the things you think 'should be like this,' may not be the case for him."
"Some things which are trivial for him may be mountains for you, and the things you value as essential might seem like luxuries to him."
Tae-jun stood up, pacing slowly toward the window where the reflection of the room flickered against the dark night.
"And there is the main point, Eun-soo. Jin-woo has a child of his own."
"He is a package deal. He is a widower who has already given his first, purest love to another woman and another life."
"Can you really love that child the same way forever? As he grows, as he changes, as he becomes a man with his own opinions?"
"A child who is five or seven years old now is a joy, but ten years from now, will you still be happy being the 'second' choice in that house?"
"Hajun may have very different opinions about you a few years down the line, and by then, the romance of Jeju will be a very old memory."
Eun-soo felt a chill run down her spine as her brother's logic began to stitch itself into her own doubts.
"Think about it carefully and decide," Tae-jun said, turning back to her with a final, decisive nod.
"Plus, tomorrow Kang Min-ho will arrive early in the morning. I expect you to be ready to receive him and take care of his needs personally."
"It is a matter of courtesy, Eun-soo. Not just to him, but to the alliance our families are building."
He checked his watch, the silver face catching the light as he prepared to leave.
"And don't forget, Kang Ara is also coming. The top actress, the face of every luxury brand from Seoul to Paris."
"Her presence will boost the publicity for the festival immensely, but it will also attract every paparazzi on the island."
"She is Min-ho's sister, and the three of you can spend time together as peers. It will look natural to the public eye."
"Take some rest now. I am going to my own room to finish some reports. I will meet you in the morning."
Tae-jun walked out of the room, the heavy door clicking shut with a finality that felt like a lock turning.
Eun-soo was left alone in the vast, silent suite, the ghost of her brother's words swirling around her like a storm.
She walked to the balcony, the cool air hitting her face, but it didn't bring the same clarity it had at the beach.
How was she supposed to face Jin-woo tomorrow? After the sapphire pool, after his hands had steady her body and his eyes had searched her soul?
Should she distance herself? Should she go back to being just 'Teacher Eun-soo' and pretend the spark never happened?
And then there was Kang Min-ho. She couldn't deny that she liked him as a person he was kind, intelligent, and safe.
Min-ho represented a path where she wouldn't have to fight, a path where her family would be happy and her reputation would be secure.
She stood in the center of the room, caught between the electric, dangerous pull of the self-made genius and the steady, golden light of the prestigious heir.
The weight of her responsibility felt heavier than ever, a crown she had tried to set aside but that Tae-jun had just placed firmly back on her head.
Slowly, she moved toward the bedroom, her movements mechanical and drained of the joy she had felt only hours ago.
She changed into her silk nightdress, the fabric cool against her skin, but it brought no comfort.
As she climbed into the large, empty bed, she stared at the ceiling, wondering if Jin-woo was also awake in the North Wing.
Was he thinking of her? Or was he already focused on the project, oblivious to the fact that her world was about to collide with his?
The image of Hajun's smiling face in the pool flickered in her mind, followed closely by Tae-jun's warning about the future.
She closed her eyes, trying to find the peace of the waves, but all she could hear was the ticking of the clock.
Exhaustion finally claimed her, and as the moon moved across the Jeju sky, Eun-soo fell into a fitful sleep.
Her dreams were a blur of sapphire water, flashes of firework light, and two men standing on opposite sides of a vast, hexagonal cliff.
One held a crown, and the other held a child's hand, and she was standing in the middle, waiting for the sun to rise.
