How could she not feel regret?
Gwen felt more frustration than anything else.
She was just an ordinary person. In the end, she really still couldn't help Peter.
That had been true for the Peter from her world, and it was true for the Peter in front of her now.
So even after becoming a police officer, I'm still just dead weight when it comes to these supervillains...
It really was infuriating.
After all...
They had only known each other for a single day.
As Gwen watched that familiar figure dive after her, countless images flashed through her mind like a spinning lantern. She found herself wondering, if she had been Spider-Man too, would her life have turned out differently?
"I really am a little jealous... of the me from that universe..."
Gwen's eyes gradually lost focus, her thoughts going blank, until the figure rushing toward her wrapped her tightly in his arms, pulling her out of her trance.
"Don't worry, Gwen. We're both fine."
Holding Gwen close, Peter tried to soothe her in a low voice. At that same moment, his upgraded Spider-Sense, now evolved into Super Precognition, reacted. He knew there was a bomb behind him, and he also knew he wouldn't be able to dodge it.
There was no time left.
Then I'll just tank it.
The instant the red bomb struck Peter, a huge red flash erupted in midair, followed by an explosion. The shockwave blasted both of them far away. Peter's suit was almost completely ruined, and a pained, twisted expression appeared on his face, but he still refused to let go. Gritting through it, he fired a web and swung them both down to open ground.
Still holding Gwen, Peter breathed heavily through the pain, sweat rolling down his face in large drops.
"You okay?"
"Peter, are you alright...? The Goblin's bomb hit you..."
Gwen had been protected well enough, but the aftershock still caught her. There were some cuts on her face, though nothing too serious.
Peter, on the other hand, only looked fine at first glance.
But his entire back had been torn open, and fragments from the blast were lodged in the flesh. Peter forced his muscles to move, pushing the shrapnel out of his body while pretending to sound casual.
"Spider-Man is always getting hurt, right..."
The moment they landed, Gwen held Peter tightly. The warmth and the smell of blood coming from his back made her panic instantly.
"You're bleeding so much..."
"Peter..."
"It's okay, Gwen. I'll recover soon enough. Go somewhere safe and wait for me. I need to help Harry!"
"Harry?! That's Harry?!!"
Gwen felt like her brain was shutting down. In just a few minutes, she had seen things she never would have believed possible in her entire life. At this point, she could barely think at all.
By the time she fully came back to herself, Peter was already swinging back into the sky. Little Goblin Harry alone would have a hard time fighting the Ultimate Green Goblin.
Little Goblin Harry was struggling badly against him. He was strong, but compared to the Ultimate Green Goblin, there was still a clear gap.
A son was never going to overpower his father that easily.
The surrounding area had already been blasted into near-total ruin. Even Oscorp Tower had not escaped that fate.
Flames were spreading everywhere, and arcs of electricity crackled through the wreckage. The entire area was probably going to lose power for quite a while.
"He's completely out of his mind. This won't ever end if we keep fighting like this..."
The Ultimate Green Goblin had lost all sense of pain. At this rate, the battle would never stop.
If only there were a way to completely remove this rampaging, unstable state...
Didn't the system reward include a Defect Optimization Serum?
And this was only a stage reward, which meant that if Peter recruited little Goblin Harry first, he would get the serum. Then he could use it to restore the Ultimate Green Goblin's sanity too.
"Harry, join my Antihero Dimensional Squad!"
Peter shouted to little Goblin Harry.
Completely out of breath, little Goblin Harry looked at him like he was insane.
"At a time like this, you're still talking nonsense?! What antihero? Have you been reading too many comics?"
"I have a way to get rid of Norman's current condition! As long as you agree, I guarantee I can fix the unstable personalities in both of you!"
Seeing how serious Peter looked, little Goblin Harry found himself believing him.
Harry always trusted Peter, even if this Peter was one he had only just met.
"Fine! I'll join your... whatever squad."
[Ding. Congratulations, Host. You have successfully recruited little Goblin Harry into the Antihero Dimensional Squad. Stage reward obtained: Defect Optimization Serum!]
[Defect Optimization Serum: While strengthening the body, it forcefully removes all negative effects within it, including injury, genetic instability, personality abnormalities, magical curses, seals, and more!]
[Congratulations, Host. You have become the captain of the Antihero Dimensional Squad. You have gained squad summon authority. Even while in different universes, the Host may summon squad members to their side for one hour. Cooldown: 24 hours!]
[Ding. Squad-exclusive communication device has been automatically issued to captain and member. Please confirm receipt!]
The instant little Goblin Harry agreed, the system's voice rang out in Peter's mind. Two green serum injectors appeared in his hand, and a faint, watch-like translucent device appeared on his wrist. It could hide itself easily, and he could barely even feel it.
As expected, the system's technology was absurdly advanced.
Little Goblin Harry also noticed the device on his own wrist. For some reason, the moment it appeared, some strange information suddenly entered his mind. As for how it worked, he had no idea.
"Peter, how did you do that?!"
"Spider-Man can do anything, right?"
Peter forced a smile through the pain and handed one of the serum injectors to Harry.
"Harry, with this, your emotions won't control you anymore. And you'll be able to wield the Goblin's power perfectly."
Harry accepted the serum without the slightest hesitation and injected it into his arm. He didn't understand why he was so certain, but he instinctively knew that this would do him a lot of good.
And it did.
The instant little Goblin Harry injected the serum, his aura surged. Not only did his body feel much lighter, but his strength and speed both became greater than before. Even the scars on his face from the explosion began to fade, leaving behind a flawless face.
"I..."
"Save the speech for later! Harry, right now we need to turn Norman back!"
"Leave it to me!"
Renewed, little Goblin Harry took the second serum injector, loaded it directly into the launcher on his glider, stepped on, and charged straight at his father without hesitation.
For a moment, the two were almost evenly matched.
But that still wasn't enough.
"We have to pin him down first before we can inject it..."
Peter thought quickly, then a grin appeared on his face. He swung upward on a web and circled around behind the Ultimate Green Goblin. At some point, he had somehow pulled out a huge pair of purple boxer shorts and yanked them over the Goblin's head.
"What is that smell?!"
The Ultimate Green Goblin instantly lost it.
Peter used the opening to shoot out web after web, binding him completely. Just to be safe, he fired dozens of them.
"Those boxers... yours?"
Looking at the giant purple shorts, which could practically be used as pants, little Goblin Harry gave Peter a very strange look.
Peter just spread his hands and shook his head.
"Hulk's. And I'm pretty sure they haven't been washed in a long time."
Ultimate Green Goblin: ???
What the hell?!
