Aria's POV
"There is no us." I fired at him.
"There could be. If you'd just listen." He pulled out a folder. "I had some research done. About bloodlines, about compatibility, about the science behind mate bonds."
"I don't want to hear this."
"The reason you're drawn to me, the reason you can't stop thinking about me even when you try…" He opened the folder and showed me papers covered in scientific terms I didn't understand. "We're fated mates, Aria. The blood work proves it."
"That's impossible. Fated mates are rare. And I already have a second chance mate with Lucian."
"Second chance mates are different from fated ones. Fated mates are written in your DNA. It's not a choice, it's destiny." He pointed at one of the charts. "Look. Your genetic markers and mine are a perfect match. The probability of this happening randomly is less than one in a million."
I stared at the papers. They looked official. Scientific. But they could also be complete bullshit.
