Mateo's POV
"Did you tell anyone?"
"I mentioned it to Aria once. She got upset, said I was being paranoid and disrespectful to Elder Miriam. After that, I kept quiet. But Alpha…" She looked at me with knowing eyes. "That tea was making her sick. I'm certain of it."
I stood up, my hands shaking. "Thank you, Margaret. You might have just given me the answer I needed."
Two days later, I was sitting in a dingy shop that smelled like incense. Morgana was a middle-aged woman with sharp eyes and a smile that made me uncomfortable.
"Alpha Ragnar," she said. "I was wondering when you'd come to me."
"You were expecting me?"
"I make it my business to know things. And everyone knows you lost your Luna." She gestured to a chair. "Sit. Tell me what you need."
I sat and pulled out a small bag. Inside were items I'd kept from Aria's belongings. A hairbrush, a piece of jewelry, a teacup she'd used frequently.
