Chapter 45 - Settling account and more *

Without any delay, Jace pulled out the leather bag he had brought with himself and removed the Beyonder characteristics and the sealed artifact.

He laid them all on the table before them.

He turned to Catherine and explained the sequences of the characteristics and the information about the mystic revolver.

Catherine was surprised; she looked at Jace, who had a glint of excitement in his eyes as he explained the side effects of the revolver.

Catherine looked down at the table and picked up the gun; it was as Jace said, it required the user to pre-load it with spirituality.

The revolver itself looked ordinary; Catherine felt that only two of six spirituality bullets were loaded.

Looking at Jace, she asked, "Only two?"

Jace smiled wryly as he scratched the back of his neck. "At the amount of spirituality I have at Sequence 7, I can only load it for 4 times until my spirituality is drained.

The shots fired by the gun are extremely lethal and destructive," Jace explained.

Catherine nodded and attempted to load the revolver; she let her spirituality flow from the hand she held the gun.

The barrel of the revolver glowed slightly; a few moments later it vibrated.

Catherine took that as an indicator that a bullet was fully loaded.

She looked at Jace, who was watching the whole process calmly. "You are right, it does require a significant amount of spirituality. You should pre-load it when the time is appropriate," she said.

Jace nodded and said after a moment, "So... let's settle our account."

Catherine nodded and said, "The Mist Treant root and fluid I sent you cost about 550 pounds. The three Beyonder characteristics you brought—I will buy them for 1,100 pounds from you. I suppose you don't want to sell the revolver?"

Jace shook his head.

"Ok, so you'll have to pay me 550 pounds to balance it all, and then our account will be concluded," Catherine said as she looked at Jace, who seemed thoughtful.

For Jace, Catherine had given a more than fair price: two Sequence 9 characteristics for 300 pounds each and 500 for the Sequence 8.

She likely wouldn't make a profit off it.

Jace smiled at her. "Thank you, Catherine,"

he said as he opened the leather bag again and pulled out some money. Counting it, he handed a stack to Catherine.

Catherine took the money; since Jace had counted the money before her, she didn't need to do it herself, and besides, she didn't believe Jace could be deceptive towards her.

She got up and collected all the Beyonder characteristics and walked toward her desk, then she heard Jace speak.

"I would advise that rather than selling the Assassin characteristic, you should have it turned into a sealed artifact," he said softly.

Catherine pulled a drawer and put the things inside it as she asked, "Is it because of the Demoness pathway?"

"Yes," Jace answered.

Natalie had told her about the things she had heard from Jace about the Assassin pathway; she was quite surprised to say the least.

"I will consider it," she said as she started walking towards the couch where Jace sat.

While walking towards him, she noticed his eyes on her chest; she smiled. She had noticed him look a few times before.

Catherine was a conservative woman; she had never worn anything so revealing, and certainly not for anyone, but today she had deliberately worn a low-cut dress that revealed her cleavage ever so slightly.

She didn't necessarily like wearing it as she was a conservative woman, but seeing Jace sneak glances, she was glad she did.

Now she stood before him with a dark smile. "Now that our business is concluded..."

She lifted her skirt at her thighs with both hands and climbed on Jace, who was sitting leaning on the couch, straddling his lap.

Jace felt his thighs go warm under the comfortable weight of Catherine; his cheeks flushed. Her warmth and beautiful scent invaded his space.

Catherine brought her hands to Jace's neck and face as she leaned forward and kissed him deeply.

The kiss was sloppy and wet and lasted for a few minutes.

She finally pulled back; her one hand was on his face while the other was on his neck.

Looking up close at him breathing heavily with a flushed face, her hand moved until her thumb was on his moist lips; she pressed his lower lip and her thumb slipped into his mouth, touching his teeth.

"You are... beautiful," she said, her voice soft as a whisper.

Jace averted his eyes from hers. "That's an offensive thing to say to a man, Catherine," he said.

"Hehe," Catherine chuckled with a melodic voice. "A boy, you mean?"

Jace glared at her.

But Catherine, without waiting for his response, moved her hand behind her back as she loosened the laces of her dress.

Her dress loosened and revealed more of her cleavage.

She smiled and moved closer and pulled Jace into her breasts. "Did you like my dress? I wore it for you," she said in a low, hoarse tone.

Jace was awkwardly holding her waist; he felt his face against the soft and warm swell of her cleavage.

He squirmed a little and said in a low voice, "Catherine... not here..."

Catherine smiled at him. "We'll move to the bedroom," she said softly as she moved him back and moved in again and planted a soft kiss on his lips.

"But before that..." Catherine said, her voice firm this time.

Her right hand on his neck moved lower, tracing his chest and abdomen, and reached his pants.

With one hand she unbuckled his belt and unbuttoned his pants; her hand slipped into his underwear and lower.

Jace felt Catherine's slightly cold hand invade his warm lower region in his pants.

He felt her hand stopping and stroking his shaft, which was already in an excited state, but her hand moved even lower, reaching his balls.

Her hand wrapped around them gently, giving him soft and gentle squeezes.

But the gentleness vanished in an instant as her hand wrapped round tighter; she squeezed harder!!

Pain flared in his lower region!!
