"That explains it," Arabella said. "There was something… desperate in the attempt,"
"Desperate?" Lavinia repeated. "My dear, that was not desperation. That was delusion,"
"She nearly collided her way into His Royal Highness, did she not?" Ophelia asked. One could not miss the barbarity in her tone.
"So I heard," Beatrice replied. "Though I cannot imagine what she hoped to accomplish."
"To be noticed," Lavinia said simply and Celia's gaze flickered. To be noticed, she thought. How very foolish.
"And instead, she ensured she would be remembered for entirely the wrong reasons," Arabella mused, recollecting the encounter with a cruel glint in her eyes.
"Which, in her case, may be the only sort of remembrance available," Ophelia added, almost innocently, and more laughter spread through the room.
