Silence stretched.
Then movement came from the observers.
Daven rose from his position among the crowd.
The movement was unexpected.
"Father. A moment."
Korin's eyes snapped to his son with clear warning.
"Sit down."
"No." Daven's voice was firm, respectful but unyielding. "I was there. I saw what happened. She didn't attack. She defended herself. MY warriors were attempting capture. Without negotiation. Without mercy. She stopped them. Non-lethally."
Korin's voice went dangerous.
"You overstep—"
"I state facts."
Daven's voice carried through the chamber.
It was brave.
Stupid maybe.
But brave.
"The blessed one offered peace. Offered to come willingly. My orders were to capture by force if necessary. She proved capture by force was impossible."
He looked at the three warriors standing in the crowd. They were still bruised from yesterday. Still limping slightly.
"But she didn't kill. Didn't maim. She could have. Easily. But she showed mercy."
