Korin started to object. "This is not—"
Elder Mara cut him off.
"Let her speak."
Faelyn's voice rang clear.
"What do you know about Scar'oth?"
Silence crashed over the room.
Uncomfortable shifting rippled among the elders.

"Scar'oth leads the Collective. He's building an army." Faelyn's voice went grim. "He already attacked once. Killed twenty warriors from your tribe and a few from the panthers."
The numbers still hurt to say. Each one a person who'd been alive, breathing, laughing just weeks ago.
"He's not stopping. He's planning something bigger."
She looked at each elder in turn, holding their gazes.
"And while you're here debating whether my bond is appropriate, he's out there preparing to destroy both tribes."
She let that sink in, watching the realization dawn on several faces.
"You're fighting the wrong enemy."
Korin recovered quickly, like he'd been expecting this angle.
