Everything was peaceful for approximately four minutes. That should have been my warning. Ana slept quietly against Adam's chest while the entire room collectively admired her like she had personally descended from the heavens. Kael sat beside us protectively clutching one of Ana's tiny blankets with terrifying seriousness while Ethan watched him with visible amusement.
"You look like a royal bodyguard."Ethan said.
"I AM a royal bodyguard."Kael replied instantly.
"You are five."Ethan said.
"I am emotionally experienced."Kael said.
"You threatened a spoon yesterday."Ethan said.
"The spoon approached suspiciously."Kael said.
"Fair."Ethan nodded.
Honestly Ethan adapting to Kael's insanity this quickly felt dangerous. Meanwhile Michael had been staring at Ana for the past ten minutes without blinking normally. That should also have been a warning.
