INSIDE THE ROYAL PALACE, LATE EVENING
ZAVIER
Something was wrong, not dangerous exactly. Just wrong. I sat upright abruptly in bed, one hand immediately pressing against my stomach while Adam looked up from the security reports scattered across the blankets beside me.
"What happened?" He asked instantly.
"I don't know." I frowned.
That was the problem, I couldn't explain it properly. For the last hour my instincts had felt restless, uncomfortable beneath my skin like something kept brushing against my senses from far away. Not threat, a presence.
"Weird." I muttered.
"What kind of weird?"Adam immediately became alert.
"I don't know."I said.
That answer clearly offended him spiritually.
"You are frowning at the wall again." He said carefully.
"I am sensing emotionally."I said.
"That is not medically reassuring."Adam said.
"I never claimed to be medically reassuring."I sighed.
