Chapter 11 - Hydra arc - Absolute Zero

After Leo's fight,

The scene shifted to Ryuk, Mono, and Kari.

Ryuk had just killed a monster.

His sword was resting on the monster's head, still stained.

"We at least have killed 100+ monsters till now," Mono said.

"What could we even do," Ryuk replied, his voice calm but cold, "as we don't find a way to reach the Hydra boss."

Then suddenly,

Another monster attacked Kari.

Without hesitation, Ryuk moved.

A single motion.

A clean strike.

He sliced that monster into half easily.

They continued walking for a while.

Then suddenly—

A group appeared.

They surrounded them and aimed arrows directly at them.

Ryuk immediately prepared his sword.

"Wait, Ryuk," Kari said quickly.

Ryuk's eyes shifted.

The group—

They were humans.

"We are not your enemy. We are humans like you," Kari said.

"It doesn't matter. You have to come with us," the group replied.

Ryuk wanted to answer with an attack.

His grip tightened on his sword.

But—

Because of Mono and Kari's request,

Ryuk didn't move.

He lowered his intent.

They went with the group.

After walking for some time,

They arrived in front of a gate.

The atmosphere around it felt heavy.

"On the other side of this gate, there is a huge tunnel," one of the group members said.

"If you pass that tunnel, you will reach the Hydra boss room."

He paused.

"But to reach that room, we have to defeat different monsters."

"And when the Hydra is defeated… all the drops will be taken by us."

Silence fell.

Ryuk, Mono, and Kari looked at each other.

Then—

They agreed.

"For now," Ryuk thought in his mind, his gaze turning cold,

"I have to accept it… but when the Hydra is killed…"

His grip tightened slightly.

"I will kill the entire group."

The group stepped forward.

They opened the room.

The gate slowly moved.

A deep, dark passage revealed itself.

They began to walk into the tunnel.

Step by step.

Deeper into the darkness.

For a while—

Nothing happened.

Only footsteps echoed.

Then suddenly—

A shadow-like hole suddenly appeared on the floor, swallowing the light around it as if the ground itself had opened its mouth.

Before anyone could react—

The ground beneath them collapsed.

Ryuk and several members of the group were dragged down into that dark abyss.

Mono remained above for a moment, his mind unable to process what had just happened.

His eyes widened.

His thoughts froze.

"What… is happening…?"

Then—

"Slash."

"Slash."

Two heads fell.

Clean.

Instant.

The bodies stood still for a fraction of a second before collapsing, blood spraying across the ground.

Mono's pupils shrank.

His entire body stiffened.

Then it began.

One by one—

Each member of the group was beheaded.

No warning.

No visible attacker.

Only the sound—

"Slash."

"Slash."

"Slash."

Blood spread everywhere.

It painted the floor.

It soaked the air.

It turned the surroundings into a nightmare.

Mono's breathing became unstable.

Fear consumed him completely.

He screamed—

"Kariii!!"

But his voice didn't even have time to echo.

Another slash.

His head separated from his body.

Silence.

Kari stood frozen.

His mind shattered.

But reality didn't stop.

This was not the time to grieve.

This was the time to survive.

A sudden presence brushed past him.

Instinct took over.

Kari lowered his head.

A blade passed just above him—

He had barely dodged it.

His heart pounded violently.

Without hesitation, Kari activated his defense.

"Leaf Barrier."

Leaves spiraled around his body, forming a complete protective shell.

The barrier trembled instantly.

Something was attacking it.

Again.

Again.

Again.

The pressure kept increasing.

Cracks began to form.

The leaves started to tear apart.

And then—

The barrier collapsed.

Kari looked around.

What he saw—

Was hell.

Heads scattered across the ground.

Bodies lying in pieces.

Blood flowing like a river beneath his feet.

Everyone—

Everyone was dead.

His body trembled uncontrollably.

His mind refused to accept it.

Then—

A voice.

A broken voice.

"Help… me…"

Kari turned.

One of the last surviving members.

His hand was cut off.

Blood pouring endlessly.

His eyes filled with desperation.

Kari tried to move.

But he couldn't.

His body was frozen.

Fear had taken complete control.

He couldn't step forward.

He couldn't speak.

He couldn't save him.

And then—

In front of Kari's eyes—

That man's body was cut into multiple pieces.

Instantly.

Brutally.

Silently.

Something inside Kari broke.

His mind collapsed.

His soul trembled.

Memories began to flood his thoughts.

Mono's scream.

Alan's smile.

Their moments together.

Their bond.

Their journey.

Everything.

All of it—

Shattered in a single moment.

"I…"

Kari's voice trembled.

"I… can't…"

Tears fell from his eyes.

"I… don't know… who is alive anymore…"

His breathing broke into sobs.

His vision blurred.

His will—

Disappeared.

And in the very next second—

"Slash."

Kari's head fell to the ground.

Silence consumed everything once again.

Within the shadow hole, Ryuk and the remaining members of the group were falling endlessly, their bodies swallowed by a dark abyss that seemed to have no bottom.

The air was heavy.

The light was gone.

Only darkness surrounded them.

Then—

Impact.

They landed.

A tunnel of darkness stretched endlessly ahead.

Ryuk landed perfectly, his body stabilizing the moment his feet touched the ground.

But not everyone was like him.

Many of the group members failed to land safely.

Their bodies—

crushed.

scrambled.

Bones shattered on impact.

Eyeballs rolled across the floor.

Internal organs spilled out, spreading in every direction.

The ground became a scene of horror.

Ryuk didn't react.

He simply tightened his grip on his sword.

He was already preparing for battle.

Then—

Two creepy, ugly spirits emerged from the darkness.

Their forms were twisted.

Their presence was suffocating.

Without hesitation—

Ryuk moved.

He rushed forward.

His sword swung—

Left.

Right.

Slash.

Both spirits were cut down instantly.

Effortlessly.

But the moment they disappeared—

More came.

Bat-like spirits descended from above.

Their faces resembled monstrous vampires, their mouths filled with sharp teeth.

They attacked the remaining group members.

Screams filled the tunnel.

Ryuk didn't move.

He didn't save them.

Because in his mind—

They were not worth saving.

The bat spirits tore through them.

One by one—

Everyone died.

And once they were done—

Ryuk stepped forward.

His blade flashed.

Slash.

Slash.

Slash.

Every bat spirit was cut into pieces.

Silence returned once again.

Then—

Ryuk felt it.

A powerful presence behind him.

His instincts reacted instantly.

He didn't hesitate.

He ran forward at full speed.

From behind—

Four energy blasts shot toward him.

The first—

He jumped high, letting it pass beneath him.

The second and third—

He dropped low and spun his body in a 360° slide across the ground, narrowly avoiding both.

The fourth—

It came too fast.

It struck him directly.

Boom.

Ryuk was thrown far away.

His body slammed against the ground.

But he didn't stay down.

He grabbed his sword.

And then—

A light began to emerge from it.

The blade started to change.

Its design shifted.

Its presence intensified.

This was the first form of his sword.

1) Soul Bond Sword Form.

The sword transformed its appearance.

Its power increased.

Its connection to Ryuk deepened.

Then—

Ten terrifying spirits rushed toward him.

Ryuk didn't step back.

He flipped his body mid-air—

And began cutting them down.

One by one.

Fast.

Precise.

Relentless.

His focus was absolute.

His speed was overwhelming.

Within seconds—

All ten spirits were gone.

Ryuk didn't stop.

He rushed forward.

Toward the source of the presence.

And then—

He saw it.

A horrifying vampire.

Its mouth filled with sharp teeth.

Its body grotesque.

Inside its body—

Snakes and centipedes crawled through its exposed internal organs.

A creature beyond nightmare.

The moment Ryuk approached—

Two spirits attacked him from the sides.

They struck him hard—

Throwing him upward—

His body slammed against the roof.

Blood poured from his wounds.

But the vampire—

Started to sing.

A strange, eerie song.

The moment Ryuk heard it—

Something began to happen.

Red holes started appearing across his body.

A disease.

A deadly one.

His blood—

His organs—

Were beginning to rot from the inside.

A slow, painful death.

There was only one way to stop it.

Kill the vampire.

Ryuk moved instantly.

He killed the two spirits that attacked him.

Then—

He lunged toward the vampire.

The vampire countered.

Snakes and centipedes burst out from its body, attacking violently.

Ryuk dodged.

Barely.

Then—

He activated the second form of his sword.

2) Fusion Sword Form.

The sword's appearance didn't change.

But its inner power awakened.

Ryuk swung his blade—

Fast.

Extremely fast.

Each swing released ice waves.

Frost spread across the battlefield.

The temperature dropped instantly.

The vampire's movements slowed.

Its regeneration weakened.

Ryuk pressed forward.

He slashed continuously.

Again.

Again.

Again.

But the vampire—

Regenerated.

Over and over.

And it counterattacked relentlessly.

Its attacks never stopped.

The clash intensified.

The tunnel began to collapse.

Everything was being destroyed.

Ryuk—

Was struggling.

Blood poured from his body.

He vomited blood.

His eyes—

His nose—

Everything was bleeding.

And then—

The shadow hole above began to close.

Slowly.

Time was running out.

Ryuk understood.

He had no choice.

Despite his condition—

He didn't stop.

He continued attacking.

Relentlessly.

The vampire did the same.

Neither side held back.

The opening above—

Became smaller.

And smaller.

Until it looked like escape was impossible.

But—

In the final two seconds—

Ryuk made his move.

A final burst of speed.

A decisive strike.

Slash.

The vampire's head was severed.

And in that exact moment—

Ryuk leaped.

He escaped the collapsing shadow world—

Emerging back with the head of the vampire in his hand.

Ryuk dropped the vampire's head.

It rolled across the ground before coming to a stop.

For a moment—

There was silence.

Ryuk stood still.

His chest rising and falling.

His body covered in blood.

Then slowly—

He looked around.

The smell hit him first.

The smell of blood.

Heavy.

Rotten.

Suffocating.

Corpses were everywhere.

Heads.

Bodies.

Pieces of flesh scattered across the ground.

And among them—

Mono.

Kari.

Ryuk's eyes paused.

He understood.

Everyone was dead.

Except him.

A rare emotion surfaced.

Sadness.

For Mono.

For Kari.

For his teammates.

But he didn't move.

He didn't speak.

Because deep inside—

He knew.

There was nothing he could have done.

For a moment—

He thought it was over.

That he had won.

But then—

A voice echoed in his mind.

"So… you are the North Sword Style user, right… I suppose."

"How did you manage to find the final thread here…"

Ryuk's eyes sharpened.

A presence emerged.

From the darkness—

A monster appeared.

Six arms.

Each holding a sword.

Its head—

Like a samurai.

Its presence—

Heavy.

Oppressive.

This was it.

The final battle before Hydra.

Without wasting a second—

The battle began.

Ryuk moved first.

His blade flashed.

Ice sword strikes.

Each swing—

Cutting.

Freezing.

The monster's skin began to freeze over.

But—

The samurai moved.

All six arms swung at once.

Hundreds of slashes.

The air itself was torn apart.

Everything—

Cut into pieces.

Ryuk was hit.

Again.

And again.

Hundreds of times.

Nearly 200 slashes carved into his body.

Blood burst out.

But—

Ryuk controlled his breathing.

Steady.

Precise.

"You are using breathing technique, I suppose…" the samurai spoke.

Breathing technique—

A method of healing.

By controlling the lungs.

By controlling the rhythm.

The body regenerates.

Wounds close.

Even lost parts can return—

If mastered perfectly.

It was the way of swordsmen.

Ryuk didn't reply.

He never did.

Instead—

He attacked.

Relentlessly.

His sword strikes spammed the battlefield.

Each strike—

Destroying.

Freezing.

Dominating the space.

But Ryuk was already exhausted.

He had just fought the vampire.

He wasn't at full strength.

The samurai didn't hold back.

Again—

A storm of 1000 slashes.

Ryuk's body was torn apart.

He fell to the ground.

The samurai didn't stop.

Attack after attack—

Until Ryuk's body was completely broken.

Blood flowed from everywhere.

His condition—

Close to death.

He couldn't heal properly.

Because—

He couldn't breathe properly.

His lungs were failing.

His rhythm was broken.

Then—

Something stirred.

Deep inside his heart.

A feeling.

A trigger.

Ryuk stood up.

Slowly.

"So… you still want to fight more?" the samurai asked.

Ryuk finally spoke.

"Sword Technique… Third Form."

3) Ancestor Sword Form.

His body changed.

A black cloak covered him.

A black hoodie formed over his head.

His presence—

Completely different.

Completely overwhelming.

"Come at me with your remaining power."

The samurai vanished—

Moving at teleport-like speed.

It attacked.

But—

Ryuk was gone.

He appeared behind it.

His sword moved—

From low left—

To top right.

Slash.

The samurai's body froze—

From the inside.

Still—

It attacked again.

But Ryuk—

Exhaled.

A single breath.

The temperature dropped.

The entire area turned negative.

Mist filled the surroundings.

The battlefield became unreal.

The samurai attacked—

But every time—

Ryuk vanished.

He blended into the mist.

Appearing—

Disappearing—

From every direction.

The samurai couldn't touch him.

Not even once.

Time passed.

The samurai slowed.

Its body weakened.

It dropped to its knees.

Then—

Ryuk appeared in front of it.

The samurai tried to stand again.

But Ryuk—

Dropped his sword.

"Do you know… I can defeat you just by standing."

"If you don't believe… come and try to kill me."

"And if you want… call more monsters."

"They will die too."

The samurai growled.

It called for help.

Other monsters broke through the walls—

Rushing toward Ryuk.

At the same time—

The samurai charged.

Its blade—

Just 1 cm away from Ryuk's body.

Ryuk raised his finger to his lips.

"Shhh."

He exhaled.

Completely.

And then—

Silence.

Everything—

Stopped.

All monsters froze.

Their bodies turned solid.

Blood began to pour out.

They collapsed.

Dead.

The samurai—

Frozen.

Its sword—

Frozen.

Its body—

Frozen.

It realized.

Its internal organs were freezing.

It couldn't move.

"This… is… Absolute Zero…" it whispered.

"When I breathe… I control the temperature."

"I cannot increase it above normal."

"But I can decrease it… to Absolute Zero."

"Where even atoms stop moving."

"That's why… your organs are frozen."

Ryuk stepped forward.

He picked up his sword.

And without hesitation—

Slash.

The samurai was cut into pieces.

Clean.

Final.

Ryuk ended his Ancestor Sword Form.

The black cloak disappeared.

The mist faded.

Silence returned.

Without looking back—

Ryuk began walking.

Toward the final battle room.

Where—

The Hydra awaited.

And then—

The scene shifted.

A mountain.

A quiet place.

There—

Haruto stood.

His eyes fixed ahead.

A mysterious small girl stood near a river.

Watching the flowing water in silence.
