The World Chalice trembled.
At first, the change was almost imperceptible.
The crushing gravitational force that had pinned everyone to the ground did not disappear, but something within it fractured. The invisible pressure pressing against their bodies weakened just enough to create an opening.
Rio sensed it immediately.
Her eyes narrowed as she forced herself upright, muscles trembling from exhaustion and accumulated injuries.
"Now."
The single word cut through the battlefield.
Auram moved before anyone else could react.
The former hero exploded forward in a burst of speed that scattered dust and debris behind him. His twin blades flashed into existence as he charged directly toward the Ancient Dragon Almarduke.
The colossal dragon responded with an earth-shaking roar. Its wings spread wide, casting a massive shadow over the battlefield as it shifted its body to intercept him.
Auram didn't slow down.
He accelerated.
His body became a blur as he dashed beneath the dragon's massive frame and circled around its flank with impossible precision.
"Girsu!"
Behind him, Girsu charged forward with spear in hand. Every step cracked the fractured stone beneath his feet as he followed Auram's movements.
"Right behind you!"
The spear knight's eyes locked onto a black crystal embedded between the dragon's scales near its ribs.
"There!"
Auram changed direction instantly.
His blades flashed.
CRASH!
The crystal shattered.
The dragon released a distorted scream filled with agony.
Dark corruption leaked from the broken crystal like smoke escaping from a prison.
But Auram wasn't finished.
"Seventy-two..."
His voice remained calm as he launched himself toward another cluster.
The dragon twisted violently, but its movements were slowing.
Crystal after crystal exploded beneath his blades.
Each shattered fragment weakened the corruption spreading through the beast's body.
Meanwhile, Ryota turned his attention toward the Guardian Chimera.
The monstrous fusion creature was already preparing another devastating attack.
Its seven heads rose simultaneously.
Fire.
Lightning.
Wind.
Poison.
Light.
Shadow.
Earth.
Each element gathered within a different mouth as destructive energy accumulated.
Ryota immediately recognized what was coming.
"Oh no. Not this again."
Instead of retreating, he charged.
The chimera opened its jaws wider.
The elemental attack was seconds away from firing.
Ryota bent down and grabbed a massive chunk of broken stone from the battlefield.
With all his strength, he hurled it.
BOOM!
The boulder slammed directly into one of the open mouths.
The gathering energy destabilized.
Before the creature could recover, he threw another.
And another.
Each impact disrupted another head.
The carefully constructed elemental attack collapsed inward.
The chimera screeched violently as conflicting energies detonated inside its own throats.
Ryota laughed.
"HAHA! That's what you get!"
Using the opening, he sprinted forward and leapt into the air.
His fist pulled back.
"[Scalular Impact]."
Power surged through his arm.
The force multiplied beyond normal limits.
Then he punched.
BOOOOM!
The impact rippled through the chimera's entire body.
Its massive frame skidded sideways across the battlefield as several heads slammed into the ground.
At the same time, Rio stepped forward.
Her HP remained critically low.
Her mana reserves were nearly depleted.
Yet her expression remained calm.
Controlled.
Focused.
The Crimson Bloodmoon responded to her will.
The saber glowed with a deep crimson light that resembled flowing blood beneath moonlight.
"Moonlight Melody."
She swung once.
A crescent-shaped wave of crimson energy tore across the battlefield.
Then she raised her musket.
BANG!
The bullet pierced directly through the center of the energy wave.
At that exact moment, her eyes ignited.
"Chronos Eye."
Time distorted.
The projectile accelerated.
The energy wave compressed and sharpened.
The two attacks merged into a single devastating strike.
BOOOOM!
The attack struck the Guardian Chimera before it could recover from Ryota's assault.
Heads screamed.
Limbs tore apart.
Corrupted energy erupted from countless wounds as the creature's body began to collapse.
Back at the dragon, Auram continued his relentless assault.
Crystal after crystal shattered.
Ten.
Twenty.
Thirty.
The corruption holding Almarduke together weakened with every strike.
"Forty-eight!"
Girsu drove his spear into another cluster.
CRACK!
"Fifty-nine!"
Auram spun through the air.
Both blades crossed.
SLASH!
"Sixty-eight!"
The dragon's movements became sluggish.
Its roars weakened.
Its body trembled violently.
Finally, Auram launched himself high into the air.
His eyes locked onto the final crystal.
"Seventy-three."
Both blades descended.
CRACK!
The last crystal shattered.
Everything stopped.
For a brief moment, complete silence filled the battlefield.
Then the corruption broke.
Black veins covering the dragon's scales cracked apart like shattered glass.
Darkness peeled away from its body.
The beast released a completely different roar.
Not one of pain.
Not one of rage.
Relief.
The massive dragon slowly collapsed to the ground.
Freed at last.
Girsu didn't waste a second.
The instant the dragon fell, he turned his gaze upward.
Toward Lee.
Toward the floating fairy who had manipulated everything.
"This ends now."
Light began gathering around his spear.
It wasn't magic.
It wasn't elemental energy.
It was something older.
Something purer.
Girsu launched himself into the sky.
Below, Auram turned away from the fallen dragon and looked toward the Guardian Chimera.
Ryota was still fighting.
Still standing.
Still refusing to give up.
Auram nodded.
"Let's finish it."
Ryota grinned.
"About time."
The two charged together.
Auram struck first.
His twin blades flashed across the chimera's legs, disrupting its balance.
The creature stumbled.
Ryota immediately seized one of its heads.
"Stay still!"
Using all his strength, he slammed it into the ground.
BOOM!
The chimera struggled to retaliate.
Rio appeared beside them.
Another Moonlight Melody cut across its body.
Weakened though she was, her precision remained flawless.
Auram crossed his blades.
A finishing strike.
Ryota pulled back his fist.
"This is for all that nonsense!"
"[Scalular Impact] — Maximum Output!"
His punch landed.
BOOOOOOM!
The Guardian Chimera collapsed.
One head after another fell silent.
No regeneration.
No movement.
No recovery.
The monster was dead.
Above them, Girsu reached Lee.
For the first time, uncertainty appeared in her eyes.
"You shouldn't be able to—"
Too late.
Girsu thrust his spear directly toward the World Chalice.
"This ends with you."
The spear pierced forward.
The battlefield seemed to hold its breath.
At last, the monsters were gone.
The tide had turned.
The mastermind behind everything had finally been cornered.
The impact connected cleanly.
Lee's body jerked.
Girsu seized her by the neck and lifted her into the air.
His expression remained cold.
Final.
"It ends here."
Lee stared at him.
Then smiled.
Not the gentle smile from the murals.
Not the smile of a guide.
Something broken.
Something horrifying.
"You're too late."
Black veins began spreading across her skin.
At first they looked like tiny cracks.
Then they multiplied.
Crawling across her face.
Her arms.
Her eyes.
Her entire body.
"So this is it..."
Her voice overlapped with another.
Two voices speaking simultaneously.
"The final piece."
Girsu's grip tightened.
"No."
He swung his spear.
SLASH!
The strike split Lee's body in half.
For a moment, it seemed to work.
Then reality twisted.
The two halves did not fall.
They dissolved.
Liquefying into a mass of living darkness.
The shadow surged forward.
Not toward Girsu.
Past him.
Toward Lib.
"No!"
Auram's voice cracked.
The darkness reached Lib and merged with her body through the wound in her chest.
Her entire body convulsed violently.
The corrupted staff embedded within her shattered into countless fragments.
Black veins spread across her skin.
Across her heart.
Across her face.
Her eyes opened.
Red.
Empty.
Cold.
Strands of black appeared within her blue hair.
A jagged black halo formed above her head.
Dark wings emerged behind her.
The pressure radiating from her existence alone made the air feel heavier.
Rio stared upward.
"So this was your endgame."
The transformed figure smiled.
"Not possession."
Her voice carried both Lib's and Lee's tones simultaneously.
"Completion."
The world shifted around her.
Reality itself seemed to bend in response to her presence.
"I was always meant to become this."
Her red eyes settled on Girsu.
"You're next."
Then she vanished.
Girsu's eyes widened.
"Where—"
"Behind you."
A crimson sphere of condensed energy formed in her hand.
"Die."
BOOOOM!
The blast struck Girsu at point-blank range.
His body shot downward like a meteor.
CRASH!
The impact created an enormous crater.
Dust and debris exploded across the battlefield.
Auram shouted desperately.
"GIRSU!"
No answer came.
Only smoke.
Only silence.
The transformed being floated above them.
Untouched.
Unchallenged.
"The Corruptor Fairy..."
Rio whispered.
Then she gave it a name.
"Liblee."
The fusion of Lib and Lee smiled down at them.
At Rio.
At Ryota.
At Auram.
At the fallen Girsu.
"Now..."
Her smile widened.
"Let's finish this."
The entire dungeon trembled.
Stone cracked.
The air tightened.
Even Rio felt it.
Not fear.
But genuine danger.
Because the enemy floating before them was no longer a hero.
No longer a guide.
No longer part of the story.
She had become the force that ended stories.
And for the first time since entering the trial, victory felt impossibly far away.
