Sairis's POV
Sairis should have seen this coming. With the queen present, the royal chamberlain beside her, the senior midwife, two assistants, Edgar outside the door and the Lord of Ceremonies waiting in the corridor, there was not a single gap in this room that had been left unaccounted for.
Every person here was a witness. Every person here would be asked to confirm what they saw.
Nothing was going to be overlooked and nothing was going to be softened and there was absolutely no version of this where anything other than the complete truth came out of it.
He glanced at Henrietta. She was standing with her hands clasped in front of her and her jaw tight and her eyes fixed on Candice in the chair.
Hen had seen it too. She understood.
"It is all right," Sairis said quietly, low enough that only she could hear.
Henrietta exhaled through her nose. She nodded once, small and tight, and said nothing.
