Sairis's POV
Edgar sighed and looked at Sairis, almost as if he was asking for help without words. The look caught Sairis off guard. Why Edgar would think he had any influence in a moment like this was beyond him.
As if that was not enough, the captain turned to him and arched a brow, his gaze sharp and questioning, as though he expected Sairis to speak, to step in, to do something.
"You are the tutor here," he said flatly. "You should explain better."
Sairis felt the weight of it settle on him at once. Two men, both looking at him, both waiting in their own way.
For a brief second, he considered saying nothing.
Walking away.
Pretending he had no place in this.
But he knew that would not help anyone, least of all Loreen.
Sairis swallowed as he turned to Loreen, forcing himself to speak. "The court session has to be closed by the king, or in this case, the next in line to the throne. Since the king was not able to do it himself." he said carefully.
